Owner description: This beautiful carousel, completed in 1995, was the brainchild and vision of a local Missoula cabinet-maker, who carved much of the structure himself and also trained an enthusiastic team of volunteers to assist in the project.

“Fun attraction for kids in Missoula”

We enjoyed A Carousel for Montana and Dragon Hollow on a sunny Saturday in March. It is open 11:00 until 5:30 Sept - May and 11-7 June -Aug. the ride is .75 for kids under 16. It is a beautiful carousel right on the river in downtown Missoula. They have a small gift shop and restrooms. They even have the grab for the brass ring if you have nice long arms.

Right next to it is a great playground called Dragon Hollow. The kids 4 & 6 had a blast climbing running, going down fun twisty (dark) slides. There was also a section for very small kids. Every town should have a fun free playground like this. It's large, imaginative and free. The kids loved it!

“Feel like a kid again!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 3, 2013

This is one place in Missoula we love to take our out of town guests. It allows the older ones to feel young at heart, and us too. The carousel is located in a riverfront park area, with an immediate view of the Clark Fork River. I recommend walking up or down the river trail and loop back across one of the street bridges for a great view of the city. The carousel itself is a work of art with hand crafted wood horses, each one custom made by local Missoulians.

“Wonderful!”

all old wooden restored carousel- gets going at a good clips so be aware for kids riding solo for the first time. Try to grab rings out of a dragons mouth while you ride (only reachable if you ride of the outside horses) if you get the gold ring you get a free ride. There is a large playground right by. Fun for kids!

Fun carousel hand carved by locals. Located in a beautiful river-side park that is bordered by the Clark Fork river. Numerous events in the park throughout the year.
