“A Trip Back Through Time”
Reviewed May 3, 2012

The Crazy Mountain Inn was an old hotel serving miners at the turn of the century. This delightful inn now is run by Peter and Cheryl, with love, laughter and an eye for comfort. The rooms are furnished like the old days, but very comfortable and quaint. There are no rooms with private bath; you share a large bathroom down the hall. That freaked us out a little bit, but it ended up being no big deal. The bathroom was always clean and nice. The restaurant is great; they put a candle on my pancake for my birthday breakfast! Cheryl bakes some of the yummiest pies I have ever tasted! (Written up in Montana Magazine for "Best Pie in Montana") There is little to do in Martinsdale, but the reservoir is fun and all the mountains nearby hold hours of pleasurable hiking and adventure. This seems like a place best suited for adults.

Room Tip: Don't bring children, it would drive the other guests crazy. If you are either early birds or la...

My wife and I stayed here in September, 2011 and thoroughly enjoyed our time there. The inn is a genuine old time hotel with creaky wooden floors, the bathroom down the hall, a house full of antiques and western memorabilia, and an atmosphere that genuinely takes you back a hundred years into the real "Old West". The facilities are squeaky clean, and the hostess is friendly and informative. The location is on the main street of a tiny little town that boasts about 40 residents if I remember correctly. It's a step back in time, and a thoroughly enjoyable one at that. Don't miss the Bair Museum while you are here. It's just down the street a ways and is an extremely interesting museum/former home of a sucessful Montana rancher who at one time had over 300,000 head of sheep.

We stayed there for a week and found the hotel to be delightful. The rooms are charming and full of antiques. There is running water in the rooms and a full bath down the hall. There is a stunning view of the surrounding area from every window. The restaurant has delicious food and homemade pie to die for. Cheryl, the proprietor, is always happy to chat and tell stories and always with a pleasant giggle. A stay there will take away all your stress. It is also an absolute must for hunters and artists. It is walking distance from the Martinsdale reservoir.
