Review of Fiesta En Jalisco

Fiesta En Jalisco
Ranked #12 of 69 Restaurants in Livingston
Cuisines: Mexican
Description: Very nice Mexican place. We visited a lot and this one of the top 5. It's a small chain, but the quality was very good. And the dessert (Churros and Sopapillas) was just outstanding!

The food was tasty. We all ordered the special, chili verde. It was delicious. The margaritas were weak but passable. The waitress was kind and efficient. She was top notch. We left happy.

...but clean and about what all Mexican style diners look like in terms of decor and menu. If you're jonesin' for Mexican, this is OK. Popular with families looking for generous portions of filling foods. Service is prompt and courteous. I do agree with another reviewer who noted sloppiness in serving the plates, mostly because their frijoles are extremely soupy. But it is what it is: average food at average prices. Not so great margaritas. Honestly, I miss Crazy Coyote, with Namicio serving and Mom and Pop cooking in the back. It's long gone, now a Thai place in a third incarnation of the location.

We were looking for something hot and comforting on a cold, windy day. This place was perfect! Homemade warm chips and 2 chunky salsas arrived at our table as we sat down. Mmmmm. Several lunch specials, all at $7.99. We had the enchilada plate, and a burrito/taco combo. Both came with rice and refried beans (sour cream & guacomole). Extremely satisfying. Ambience/decor is typical Mexican diner. I loved it (others may call it a dive), but that's what they all look like in Mexico....

Went here for dinner, rather early, around 5:30pm. It seems to be popular among local folks and families because it was pretty full. The menu selection was good, a bit more than some of the mexican places around the country that all seem to have the same menu. The food was average however. Presentation was lacking a bit as everything was just sort of slopped on the plate (which had a huge chip/chunk out of the rim). The mole was sugary and didn't have much spice or taste other than sweet.
