Wow! Sitting in a formal dining room (fancy china, napkins rolled in a silver ring), delicious breakfast with bacon, toast, juice, fresh fruit, coffee, and a croissant french toast - outstanding presentation, flavor and amount of food. We were stuffed.

The home is elegant and beautiful, fully restored to its 1880's grandeur.

Carol and Charles Wicks hand-rubbed polish into wood beams in the house as they restored this historic mansion; they give that same warm friendly care to their guests. Makes you feel like family.

I have returned to this B&B several times, now, as I often have business in the area. Carole and Charles are wonderful hosts and offer a truly warm welcome and a fine breakfast. The house is fabulous, beautifully restored, and full of great surprises. Stained glass on the stairwell is gorgeous, and a reminder that you are in a very special place. I always wish I could stay longer, but failing that, I'll return for a single night every time I get a chance to stay in Lewistown.

Room Tip: I like the robin egg blue room. It has a neat bathroom and a lot of space.

We have traveled all across the country and never stayed in a place so fine as the Symmes- Wicks House. We stayed there four nights and would not even consider staying at another place in Lewistown. Not only is the home itself flawlessly restored to a Craftsman Style masterpiece, but the whole stay there was flawless. Staying with Carole and Charlie was like visiting family. They are genuinely friendly folks who truly enjoy sharing their home. Carole's breakfasts are the finest you could imagine, with dishes like fresh berry cobbler with homemade biscuit topping. We also had German pancake one morning. Her freshly made scones are better than the bakery I frequent in my local area. She serves Starbucks coffee and it was waiting every morning when I came downstairs. Carole even put a bottle of port in our room for us to enjoy. I can't overstate how enjoyable our stay was. We will plan our next trip to Montana around staying there. If you are looking for atmosphere, friendliness, like minded guests with whom to socialize, and the best food outside your grandma's kitchen, you should stay here.

Room Tip: You should book early if you expect to find a vacancy here.

We had tried to reserve a room at this B & B well in advance of our travels through Montana, having read positive reviews on TripAdvisor and also in another national travel publication. However, all 3 rooms at the property were booked. How surprised we were when, just a night before our departure from Wisconsin, Carole Wicks called to let us know of a cancellation. And how delighted we were when we arrived. This is a gorgeous home lovingly maintained by owners Carole and Charles Wicks, a very hospitable couple who do their very best to make you feel at home in their beautifully restored 1909 abode. The house itself, located a block or so off the downtown, in Lewistown's "Silk Stocking" district, is a charmer, with a plenitude of amazing woodwork, stained glass windows, and excellent period furnishings. Our bedroom (Cheri's room) was ample in size, very comfortable, and well equipped with en-suite facilities, including a large, nicely tiled shower. (The one drawback was that the house is not air-conditioned, and given that the day we stayed was warmer than usual for the area, our room was a little "close" at first; however, a large fan and the typically cooling Montana night air, made sleeping quite comfortable.) The breakfast prepared by Carole was elegant and delicious--fresh fruit, muffins, croissant French toast with a tasty orange sauce, sausages, and lots of coffee. Be sure to ask Charlie to tell you about his and Carole's family histories and the history of Lewistown and the environs. Delightful! We so enjoyed our time that we lingered longer in the morning than we had intended. One last thing--staying here provides extraordinary value: the cost is very competitive with that of the typical, and unattractive, motels that dot the town; We'd love to return!

Room Tip: We viewed all the rooms and they were all lovely--and uniquely furnished. All rooms have private ba...

A last minute trip to Lewistown for the Chokecherry Festival and Trapper Convention led us to the only vacancy in town...it was meant to be. A great rate and the first b&b experience for my in-laws, every moment was enjoyable. Carole and Charles are great hosts and of course the place reminds all of us of our grandma's house. Breakfast was wonderful and we will return, great hospitality!

Room Tip: The room facing the front of the house gets the breeze in the summer, great fresh air.

This gem of a B&B located in the geographic center of the state is a must-stay place when traveling in Montana. The rooms are lovely, each with its own character and the hosts could not be friendlier. I felt like I was leaving new friends when I departed, not leaving just a place to sleep. My schedule was quite full while there but I dearly wished I had had the time to linger on the porch with a good book, ramble the tree-shaded grounds or examine the many wonderful antiques that fill the home.
