“Great-clean and new!”
Reviewed August 7, 2013 via mobile

Very clean, nice hotel. Great breakfast buffet and nice staff. Good location in Kalispell, located in a newer area near restaurants, Target etc which was convenient. About 30 mins from West Glacier. would stay here again. Great stay!

We stayed here for 3 nights while we were visiting Glacier National Park.
The hotel is in a quiet location, surrounding countryside was lovely. The room was quiet, clean and our room was near to the end exit so we were close for parking and loading our car. Staff were friendly. The complimentary breakfast was adequate, although not brilliant.
The pool was great and we enjoyed a swim. It always seemed to be empty.
The hotel was close to Famous Dave's, which we'd not seen before(coming from UK), but we ate there 2 out of 3 evenings. Food was delicious, atmosphere and ambience were great. The other evening we tried Sizzlers, and wish we hadn't!
The hotel was also close to shops. I would recommend this hotel.

Stayed here for our kids & granddaughter to visit Glacier National Park. Staff is friendly, accommodating & seemed busy during our stay. The lobby was in great condition, it went downhill from there. The first floor carpet to the elevator was ragged & needed a vacuum cleaning at a minimum. It actually needs replacing due to the tears in the very center of the hall. The view from the room overlooks the mountains which is nice. The mattresses on the beds have seen their better days & one of the sheets had a stain on it like a coffee spill. The AC is loud when it is running. Bathroom lighting was very dim. We stay on the road a lot & this was not what I am accustomed to at a HI Express. Please spend some money & upgrade this facility. For the $209 per night rate & two rooms my bill was almost $900. Breakfast was the standard HI Express offering except the pancake machine was out of order. Hampton Inn in town was booked so this was our second choice.

Holiday Inn Express Hotels are the only hotels we stay in when traveling. This was our first trip to Montana, and we were, once again, pleasantly surprised at the Holiday Inn Express in Kalispell, MT.The front desk staff was very accomodating, and attentive. We arrived very late at nearly 1am from the Amtrak Train, and were informed that the cleaning staff did not do their job, and the front desk gentleman that came on at 11pm was surprised to find out that many of the rooms had not been cleaned. He worked diligently to clean them himself as guests arrived. We had a short wait, but were able to get into our room within a half hour of arriving. The free breakfast and casual dinners were a nice treat, along with the fresh baked afternoon/evening muffins and cookies. The kids love those little surprises.
The pool was clean, as usual. The only issues we encountered were the slow cleaning staff. They really need to work on that area. We arrived back in our room twice on very late afternoons/early evenings after hiking all day, and our room was STILL not cleaned. I seen the cleaning staff standing around talking alot, and wandering around the hotel in little clicks, just goofing off. They really need to hire some harder workers for that area. We encountered the canola bugs also, but the front desk staff was very accomodating in switching our room to the front of the building, and then there were no further issues. I'm certain that they will get a handle on it soon, since it seems to be a recurring issue. This is a very nice hotel, and the front desk staff is well trained. i recommend it highly.

Room Tip: ask for a room on the front side of the building to avoid the canola bugs.

This was about the best HI Express we've ever visited. They had their usual good breakfast, but on certain nights they also serve a free casual dinner (BLTs, salad, cookies and milk upon our visit). They have other free items on other nights. The breakfast hostess is very friendly and helpful. The rooms were clean and quiet with good beds. The price is very good. They are close to restaurants but off the main road. They even sent us a hand-written card thanking us for our visit.

My wife and I stayed here with our children and some friends on the night of July 4, 2013. Upon check in the front counter staff was very polite, friendly and helpful. The lobby and grounds are very clean and well taken care of.

The problem came when we arrived in our room and noticed small black insects in the bathroom sink. We went to the swimming pool and noticed that there was a swarm of these same black insects covering the water in the hot tub. When we arrived back in our room from the pool we noticed that these insects were on the bathroom floor, sink, bathtub and even the beds!!

There were a total of 4 families in the hotel that night on all three floors and every family had these same insects in their rooms. We were not able to move to a new hotel because it was July 4 week-end and also a baseball tournament in town so there was very limited vacancy.

When we checked out in the morning the staff at the front desk was aware of the problem and said the insects were from the canola field out back.....there is no canola field! They offered a reduced rate for the room to compensate for the insect problem. The staff at the front were very polite about the issue but even with the reduced rate it is still unacceptable. I stay in hotels about 85 nights per year with most of them being Holiday Inn Express and have never seen insect infestation like this place has. Paying $300 per night for an insect infected room is unaccceptable!

First off I want to say thank you for taking the time to review our hotel. I want to sincerely apologize about your stay with us this summer. Unfortunately it is a problem this summer that we are working diligently to fix. The bugs that are coming in are called Springtails and are completely harmless, but at the same time are a huge nuisance. After going through 3 pest companies, we have gotten the Department of Agriculture involved to help us with the issue. They live in damp soil (which of course we have a field and a lawn behind our hotel) and are attracted to moisture and water. Which is why they are attracted to the sinks, etc. We are currently doing multiple things to help solve this problem and believe we have found solutions using all of our tactics. I would love for you to give us another chance. Please contact me directly at your earliest convenience. bpeterson@impressguest.com

Our stay at the HI in Kalispell was excellent. After a day hiking a few trails at Glacier National Park, seeing beautiful water falls & lakes, even a bear crossing the road, it was great have nice, clean accommodations and be greeted with a nice welcome home.
