My sister-in-law and I stayed here for 4 nights at the end of July 2007. The quality of the hotel lies between a Vagabond Inn and a Holiday Inn Express. I expected something closer to a fine boutique hotel as their website boasts of their historical significance of being Kalispell's very first lodging establishment in the early 1900's, being remodeled, and shows flattering photos of the interior lobby. *** Positives: exceptionally low rates year round (particularly during peak summer season), great home-baked pastries/breads, central downtown location in Kalispell (near Kalispell's single mall and several dining choices within walking distance), 15 minute-drive to Whitefish, and friendly staff. *** Negatives: very small rooms, no bathtubs except in suites, weak room air conditioners, room decor beginning to show wear and tear (peeling paint/wall paper, nicked corners), loud bathroom fans, weak lighting, and wireless internet access not always reliable. Overall, would recommend for those travelers on a very tight budget desiring central location for Kalispell/Whitefish areas, economical lodging with zero frills, and no children unless you can upgrade to a suite, although I have not stayed in a suite.

This is an excellent alternative to the overpriced chain motels in town. The restored rooms are clean and well-appointed. The lobby is attractive and the staff was friendly. The rooms are somewhat small and there is some street noise. But the personal touches-cookies in the evening, home-baked goods for breakfast-make this a good value option.

Wonderful place. The price was excellent especially when compared to Red Lion etc in Kalispell. 2 couples - we travelled on motorcycles so we like to get to our destination, park and then walk to eat and drink - this was PERFECT being right downtown.

The staff were extremely friendly - the home made cookies were excellent. Rooms were very clean and nicely decorated. The hotel itself is just beautiful.

We went to Reds for cocktails and had a pizza there as well. Just a couple blocks away and live music -

This will be our go to hotel now in Kalispell.

A wonderful experieince...staying in an old hotel that has been refurbished. You stay on the main street of Kalispell, a great location to go to Glacier (about 20 minutes), with excellent restaurants around the corner, some charming shopping (western store next door), fresh cookies at night. I stayed in a single economy room, small but just me and only used the room to sleep and change for dinner. Staff was great. OK it is not a fancy new motel, but the charm is there. I would definitely stay there the next time I go to Glacier.

This grand old hotel is right in the heart of downtown Kalispell. We were visiting during a recordbreaking heatwave. The small air-conditioner in the room did its job and we were comfortable during our two night stay. The hotel's staff are very friendly and welcoming. The breakfast was very good. The rooms are a bit cramped, but the hotel is well restored for its age. The only little quirk we found was that the housekeeping staff does not dust above eye-level. My husband put a shirt on top of the hanging rod and when he took it down it was covered in dust! I also noticed dust on the tops of mirrors. Otherwise, no complaints.

We spent one night at the Grand on our way from Spokane to Glacier at the end of June '07. The Grand proved to be a wonderful stay! We loved the atmosphere of antiquity and the fact that it was right on Main Street, which provided some nice shops and at least one very excellent restaurant (Capers) directly across the street. If you stay at the Grand, I highly recommend a dinner at Capers!

The hotel has a nice lounge area around the lobby, includes a gift shop, and provides a very tasty continental breakfast. The front desk staff was wonderfully pleasant (friendly, conversational, and helpful with ideas / directions).

Our room was on the 3rd floor facing the side-street. We didn't hear any street noise - which was either due to there being none - or the fact that we ran our window AC unit ran most of the time. In either case, there were no noise issues and we had a *very* relaxing night's sleep. The bed was actually very comfortable. Bathroom was clean and functional.

No complaints at all. I would definitely stay at the Grand again and recommend it to friends.

My wife and I stayed at the Grand for three nights, June 16-19. It's an old hotel that has been refurbished, modernized and upgraded over time so that guests have the feel of being in an old, western hotel but all modern conveniences.

The first night we were in room 315; it was at the front, above the street. We checked in around midnight, Saturday, and the locals were whooping it up on the street below: racing car engines and making lots of loud noise. It took us a while to fall asleep. The fan in the
bathroom sounded like a jackhammer. In the morning we asked to be changed to a room at the back and the desk clerk happily changed us to room 220. Not only was it very quiet, it was also larger and the bathroom fam was quiet. The weather was cool and the electric baseboard heat came on quickly when the thermostat was turned up. The
bed, bedding and pillows were comfortable and the room and bathroom were very clean and well-kept.

Each morning the hotel offers a nice breakfast assortment of freshly baked breakfast breads, three choices of cereal, yougurt cups, chilled canned fruits, two juices, assorted bagels and breads for toasting, fresh coffee and tea.

The hotel accepts pets as we saw two different dogs with their owners
in the hall and lobby at different times. The hotel used to have its'
own restaurant, but it closed recently. The desk clerk has menus from
nearby restaurants and are happy to help with recommendations.
