I booked this special treat for our anniversary months in advance, as you can imagine the excitement of finally getting there and realising that all the reviews on here are justified. Everyday was a champagne breakfast filled extravaganza to kick the day off, followed by a romantic fairytale every night.
Literally as you leave Male Airport there's a speedboat waiting to take you to Gili, 15 minutes and your there. My wife suffers from sea sickness so the choppy return journey wasn't very pleasant for her. I would recommend sea sickness pills to anyone that isn't keen on a bit of swell. However the boats are superb and safety standards are high.
I can't pick fault in any aspect of our truly romantic week of indulgence the only slightly off putting aspect was our Mr Friday. On the first day we'd settled in and that evening came up with a list of activities we'd like to take part it, long and short of it they never happened. I have a sneaky feeling it was because these facilities such as the parasailing were laid on through another neighbouring hotel/island. If I had to sum him up I'd say Mr Creepy but luckily for future quests he's been promoted, the old adage... This however was a very minor thing and the only thing myself and my wife picked up on.
Can't recommend the Japanese restaurant enough, well it's not just the location, source out the ex scuba diving instructor / Japanese chef, she is a wizard in that kitchen and a true gem.
Big thank you to Craig the food and beverage manager for the laughs and exceptional service. In fact all the staff there are unique and make you feel special every minute of interaction bar my previous comments on our particular 'Friday'.
Only cosmetic fault to the whole island paradise theme is the dredging currently ongoing, little bit unsightly to stroll along the pristine white sandy beach to see a small barge, generator dredging pump and hoses floated ashore... I guess a necessity.
