“Absolutely worth the detour - especially in the spring”
Reviewed April 24, 2014

We happened upon this location and how pleased we were to have the opportunity to see the Hungry Horse Dam. It is April and we stood in awe as we watch water being released from the reservoir from three powerful jets into the river below. The shear size of the dam is worth the detour - 30 minutes to and back from the main highway including viewing time.

“Hungry Horse Reservoir”
Reviewed October 14, 2013

If you are visiting Glacier National Park, this is a must see. It's about 10 miles from the west entrance and worth the short drive. We have visited Hoover Dam and were expecting this to be a really small reservoir. We were totally surprised after the drive into the backwoods to see this massive dam and reservoir at the end of the drive. Drive to Hungry Horse on Hwy 2 and look for the SMALL sign to turn to go to the Hungry Horse Dam and Reservoir.

“The Dam”
Reviewed October 11, 2013

What a beautiful place. The dam road goes to the other side of Hungry Horse lake. We had a picnic lunch on the other side.

“Worth the Drive”
Reviewed October 5, 2013

We liked this better than Hoover Dam. Easy to reach and takes great pictures. Good places to buy meals and coffee at Hungry Horse. There are lots of other places for family fun as well. Kids loved the water slide park. Spent about 6 hours there.

“Nice side trip”
Reviewed September 16, 2013

Hungry horse reservoir isn't the kind of attraction I would plan a vacation around, but if your in the area, it may be a nice place to spend an hour or two. The dam is impressive, at over 580 feet tall, and the reservoir itself is beautiful. There is even an information center there, although it was closed the day we were there.
