I stopped by this museum after visting the Capitol (within walking distance). There is a nominal $5 admission fee which is money well spent. I found the museum to be interesting and intriguing. I was inspired with the bead work on moccasins, head dresses, leggings and other pieces of apparel. The detailed work performed with primitive tools was amazing.

Even though I am not from Montana, I found the artifacts to be well labeled, exceptionally displayed and easy to peruse.

The newest addition of a military room was fascinating.

If you are traveling with children, there is a "touch area" for children.

Great museum and an opportunity to learn above life in days gone by.

The Montana Historical Society is well worth a visit. The displays run the gamut from Indian artifacts and mining memorabilia to a large albino buffalo ("Big Medicine"). It has nice interactive displays such as the buffalo robe to try on (VERY heavy!).

I loved going here, as I like to quilt, and they have a display of quilts done by one of many Indian tribes in Montana. Also some beautiful displays the depicts Montana. A Must do when you visit Helena

We were impressed with the way the museum history displays were presented. There is a tremendous amount of Montana history that we were not aware of.

Excellent displays and items that give you and good history of the state of Montana. I was impressed and just how rare some of the items were. The cost is very reasonable and this place is worth the time to visit. You will have to visit and find out what "Big Medicine" is!
