A very nicely maintained capitol building. There is mural in the House chamber which has an interesting history.

“Always good to visit another State Captital”
Reviewed September 6, 2013

It is an easy trip into town which has a historic district. The capital building is open for viewing and worth the stop though it is some distance from the downtown. We missed an impromptu tour that has many good tidbits.

“Self guided”
Reviewed September 3, 2013

The self guided tour is very informative, and you can wander the halls at your leisure learning about the history and politics of Montana.

“Be Sure to Visit this Capitol!”
Reviewed August 25, 2013

This is an amazingly beautiful state capitol in pristine condition. There is artwork throughout and a CM Russell painting of Lewis & Clark meeting the Flatheads. The Rotunda features paintings of important early Montanans like Jim Bridger. The building is very accessible and offers tours.

“Easy and interesting”
Reviewed August 24, 2013

Parking right in front of the entrance. I waltzed right in and climbed the stairs to the main floor. The dome was beautiful and the center hall quite stately and impressive. I enjoyed the portraits lining the hall with descriptions of the historical significance of each person. Glimpsing into the open doors of the offices, I noticed beautiful Native American blankets/tapestries hanging on the walls. This was a nice way to spend an hour.
