This is a really beautiful building. We went on a Sunday when no tours were offered, but you are still able to go around the building on your own, and the information desk will provide you with a brochure. We could only peek through the windows at the legislative chambers, but the grand staircase, dome, stained glass... all worth going for.

We were staying in Butte and made the trip to Helena and was worth the trip just to visit the State Capitol, when we got there we were suprised to find out it was open on a Sunday,we chatted outside to a man who came from Helena but had moved away and his family and he told what a beautiful building it was, when we saw inside he certainly was not kidding it is very nicely decorated with paintings and stained glass windows, just a pity the Capital shop across the street was closed.

The interior is gorgeous! The reproductions of the Chambers is impeccable, the bronze statues and stained glass windows are incredible. A must see.

The museum presented historic life in Montana in a very interesting way. Although the number of displays was less than one might expect of a larger museum like the Smithsonian, the quality of the lighting and the displays would be quite at home in any of the nation's top museums.

The simple beauty of this Capital building's gorgeous interior is also compliments by a 1 mile scenic walk around the capital grounds. Take some time and enjoy Montana's weather and architecture.
