Albeit small as compared to other grand cathedrals, maybe it was full (which is really great!!) that it seemed small. I love the cathedral!
So convenient mass times as well 0700,0900,1100.
Will definitely come back for masses here. God bless everyone

The Cathedral of St. Helena, one of the most impressive religious edifices between Chicago and San Francisco, is the cathedral of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Helena, Montana. Modeled by architect A.O. Van Herbulis after the Votivkirche in Vienna, Austria, it was built in 1908, conducted its first mass in 1914, and underwent extensive renovations after sustaining significant damage during the 1935 Helena earthquake. Located at 530 North Ewing Street, it was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1980. Its most prominent feature is its 230-foot twin spires, which were directly inspired by the Votivkirche in Vienna. Adorning the spires are gold-leafed crosses that stand 12 feet in height and 6 feet in length. The North Tower contains 15 hand-cast bells, which represent the 15 mysteries of the Rosary. The interior of the Cathedral covers 11,693 square feet of stained glass across 59 windows, which depict various scenes from the Old and New Testament. The Gothic Revival church's limestone exterior features 29 statues of saints and other figures. In recent years, the upper and lower levels of the Cathedral were renovated. The lower level was named in honor of the first bishop of Helena, John B. Brondel, and the upper level included the sanctuary, St. Joseph's Chapel.

I certainly recommend visiting this wonderful cathedral. The interior is quite something to behold. I am told the windows were imported and may have ground stones of jewels in them

The German made stained glass windows are created with brilliant colors depicting scenes from the bible , mostly about Christ. There was liturgical music playing softly to enhance the experience. Though over 100 years old it is well kept with a clean unstained exterior.

This holy place is both beautiful and inspiring. The architecture is something to see, but the cathedral also evokes a feeling of peace and calm. A must see when in the area.

I grew up in Helena and often attended mass at the Cathedral of St. Helena. Sine then I've been fortunate to have visited many churches and cathedrals in other parts of the world - including the Cathedral of Notre Dame in Paris. I am always in awe when I step inside the Cathedral of St. Helena,, though. he stained glass windows are stunning, and I feel so peaceful sitting quietly in the back pew.

We made a quick stop at this cathedral in our visit to Helena. The church was open and inviting. It was easy tutu find their mass times on line to avoid them. The stained glass is beautiful and abundant. Much of it appears to have been added around 2002. It's worth the stop.

Magnificent church with stain windows of Biblical stories on each one as you walk through. A sense of calmness and spirituality as one sees the artwork done on stone as well. There are historical biblical names etched in stone too. This is definitely a photographic piece to save pics to share with family and friends.
