We found this place by accident while looking for an Italian restaurant just down the street from this place. The Italian place had shut down, so we decided to give this restaurant a try.

The menu posted in the window looked not only like nothing around here, but intriguing as well. Some of the entrees were Dal, Trout and Chicken Pot Pie. This was certainly a welcome change from the local fare of Moms and Pops or diners and fast food.

We were greeted warmly and seated promptly. Our waiter did a great job explaining the menu. This place is huge, modern and had a lovely fusion style ambiance to match its ecclectic menu.

I ordered the Chicken Carbonera which came out as a huge serving and was wonderfully presented. However, it was very bland and forgettable. My husband ordered the Chicken Pot Pie, which also was wonderfully presented, but was not only bland but quite dry.

A glass of wine or cocktail would have been a great complement to the meal experience, but they are newly opened and have not yet acquired their liquor license.

We ordered the Apple Huckleberry Walnut pie and WOW! Boy what a wonderful mash up of yummy flavours! It was deelish!

All in all, I would definitely go back to this place because although they aren't quite there yet, I believe they will be!

The food here is excellent and sophisticated such as a baked beet stuffed with shredded beets as a salad. They also had a beet/saffron sorbet. The main courses (pot roast and scallops) were quite well prepared and presented.They make their own ginger ale/beer that is the real deal as they are only three weeks old and don't have a liquor license yet. The space is pleasant and not crowded and is a welcome addition to the Hamilton restaurant scene. The chef and staff are experienced and have worked at The Stock Farm which is the top flight private club with far and away the best food and service in the area. Therefore the service was quite good. The restaurant ratings in Hamilton are problematical since hamburger joints and breakfast places are ranked along with steak houses and regular restaurants and everybody must be friends of the owners or starving since there are so many "excellents". We have eaten at great restaurants all over the world and "excellent" in Trip Advisor terms seems to mean "once of the best meals you ever had in a restaurant". This wasn't a Michilin *** but Boullia is one of the best three regular full service places in the area. It is very good and real addition to the local scene. We hope it will only get better and we will visit the next time we are in town.
