Owner description: Tours are on the hour, starting at 10 AM and ending at 3 PM. Grounds are open from 9 AM to 5 PM. Located on 46 acres of lush landscape, the Daly Mansion is the historic home of 19th Century American industrialist Marcus Daly. The exhibits here convey the story of Daly and his rise from working-class immigrant to copper magnate, as well as local, regional, and international history tied to his extended family. Today, the Mansion is a hub of local culture, entertainment, engagement and historical interpretation. We see nearly 10,000 visitors annually, and a team of over 100 volunteers are dedicated to preserving the grounds and house for the enjoyment of all who enter. The Daly Mansion is a treasure of history and intrigue, and we are thrilled to share it with visitors and community members alike.

The tour is very general and really doesn't go into the history of the mansion or the area. They really should be able to provide visitiors with more background on the mansion, the owner and the history of the handful of Copper Kings who made millions during Montana's early history.

Living in the Hamilon area of the Bitterroot Valley - one eventually becomes aquainted with the Daly Mansion. Why? Because Marcus Daly left a long, deep and lasting affect on this gorgeous piece of the planet! My family and I have visited the Mansion innumerable times over the past 10 years - for multiple grounds events...and sometimes - just to walk through the frozen-in-time mansion itself - or walk the grounds. We're looking forward to the 3rd annual Bitterroot Scottish Irish Festival to be held there in just a coupleof weeks!

The Daly Mansion tour lasted and hour and was well-worth the $8 fee. The Daly's owned the Anaconda Copper Mines, and settled the town of Hamilton for the workers. Hamilton is now one of the fasted growing towns in Montana. The estate sits on 1,000 acres, and is mostly still furnished in the 1800's styles.

Restoring the Mansion to what it was almost. I loved exploring the third floor which was not open when I visited in 1997. My last time was Mother's Day Tea a couple of years ago. Wonderful grounds to explore and to see how the wealthly built and lived when the Mansion was built.
