“The best staff on the planet!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 23, 2013

I just returned from my third trip to Paws Up. Three trips with my dad and two brothers, three different seasons, and each one an experience we will not forget. Winter at the ranch is gorgeous. Things slow down a bit, are a little quieter, and cause you to really appreciate how very beautiful and far away this "last best place" really is. Activities were great. No flymfishing, but snowmobiling, cross country skiing, and shooting sporting clays were all great. Accommodations at the Blackfoot Lodge were perfect. Food was consistently excellent. But, the thing that really sets Paws Up apart, and makes it so worth the "trouble" to get there, is the staff. I cannot do justice to describing how consistently superb every one of them is. I am blessed to frequently stay at some of the very best places on earth. I am happy to pay top dollar (which you do at Paws Up) for truly exceptional service and facilities. Nowhere that I have stayed matches the level of consistently exceptional, warm service that Paws Up achieves. From Paul, Kevin, Adam, Attrick, and Stephanie, to Justin and Jeff and Derek, and many more, including Stephen the new CEO, this place is like visiting a warm family that truly cares. We will be back again and again.

Room Tip: Blackfoot river lodge and any of the Wilderness Estates are great. The Morris Farmhouse is really ni...

Wow, what a compliment! We live on a big (and awesome) planet and there are some amazing hotels and resorts scattered within its myriad regions, so thank you SO much for your kind and thoughful comments about the team and the experience that we provided.

As guests who have now stayed with us in every season, you know that the Resort at Paws Up takes on a different personality at different times of the year, but I like to believe that the one constant is the genuine and authentic service provided by the team of which I am so proud.

We ALL look forward to welcoming you back once again for more adventures in this "last best place"

My husband arranged a family surprise getaway over Christmas. When he said we were going to a cold place I was disappointed. Who said paradise has to be hot? It was the most perfect trip in every way. From the moment we stepped off the plane it was non stop - top notch scenery, service, food and activities. Paws Up surpassed the most discriminating of traveler taste!! Everything was done to the highest level but most of all, the staff made us feel at home and they ALL could not have been more gracious, wonderful and caring for our every need. I highly recommend Paws Up to those looking for a unique, very special and most amazing adventure.

Thank you for taking the time to write this review. We had heard that initially you had been a little disappointed that your birthday surprise was to be a snowy one, but we are all so pleased that we were able to show you that Montana has a magical quality that tropical destinations can only dream to emulate!

I think you touched on the very things that make our resort so special, and we can't wait to welcome you back again for some more Montana adventures! Perhaps you can try your hand at glamping in the summer, but whatever you choose, know that a big Paws Up, smiling welcome awaits you and your family.

I can't imagine a better place to spend some quality family time in the snow. Paws Up has it all: Snowmobiling, Dogsledding, Cross Country Skiing, Sledding, Horseback Riding, Sleigh Rides....you name it and they will provide top notch equipment and instructors or guides for you and your family to experience a wide range of incredible activities. The accommodations are wonderful: Beautiful stand-alone homes built with the finest materials and finishes. And the food they serve for every meal is gourmet without being fussy. Everyone on the staff went out of their way to make us feel special. I can't wait to go back and experience this wonderful resort in the summertime!

Thanks for taking the time to write this review. It is so gratifying to know that we were able to deliver on our promise of making special memories for our guests. I am delighted that you had such a great winter vacation, and we too can't wait to share the resort with you again this summer when it takes on a different, but equally magical persona!

This resort is a hidden gem...so much so, I want to keep this review to myself :) Paws up is truly a stunning winter wonderland...acres and acres of majestic scenery, trails, lodging and wildlife. We were there from 12/28-1/2.

Our experience actually started 4 months before our actual trip when the personalized, outstanding service and concierge who helped successfully plan this as a surprise trip as a Christmas gift to my husband.. and the surprises and excellent service didn't stop there—they exceeded our every need and/or request throughout our 5 day stay. The food was unique delish—I was the only vegetarian in our party, and chef and the entire dining staff had something special for me at every meal. We wish Chef would author a cookbook. We also discovered cross country skiing, dog sledding, snow tubing and more. We are looking forward to making this a regular winter getaway and perhaps try the summer out one year too.

A big thank you to Stephanie, Sheena and Stephen for making our first visit to Paws up so unforgettable and our start to the new year indelible!

Thank you so much for this glowing review. It was a lot of fun to get to know you both and I'm so pleased that we managed to pull off the surprise!

Chef may not be writing a cookbook just yet but we will be updating our blog regularly to include his recipes and tips, for carnivores and vegetarians alike.

We look forward to seeing you again next winter and hopefully for a summer adventure too.

We Spent 6 "Great" days here after Christmas with our 11, 14 and 16 year old Grandkids.
Estate Home with big nightly fires our Grandson built with heated floors in the beautiful bathrooms was absolutely perfect for the 5 of us.
We did every activity and our family favorite was Cross Country Skiing both on and off the Ranch Property along the River and we got to see a lot of fresh Mountain Lion tracks and many others.
Snowmobiling is into the back country and to the top of the Mountain into plenty of fresh powder and along many streams where you felt completely alone. The scenery was spectacular.
Our Grandson actually loved the 2 Snowmobile trips he did
We ice skated and played Hockey several times before and after dinner.
Tubing was good/fast and also a great workout walking or running back to the top. We did not want the Snowmobile rides back up which were available.
Skeet/Trap shooting was great for my wife and two granddaughters who shot for the first time after careful coaching by our guide.
Dog Sledding was unique doing this with a 2 Time Iditarod finisher.
The entire Staff were kind, genuine, informative and perhaps the most friendly we have ever experienced.
The Casual and Rustic Ranch including the restaurants were just what we wanted. You could eat as fancy or casual as you like with so many choices of food, wine and drinks including children's menu.
The New Year's Eve fireworks while short were just the right amount lighting up the star filled sky.
The Christmas decor was perfectly placed everywhere in its very natural setting.
Even though they had a sold out Ranch we never felt crowded one moment and cherished the entire visit.

Room Tip: Wilderness Estate homes are very private and large. Perfect for a family.

Thank you for taking the time to review us following your New Year celebration with your grandchildren. I am so pleased that you enjoyed the activities, the scenery, cuisine and of course the staff.

To say that you cherish the entire visit is a wonderful compliment and I'm delighted that we were able to create lasting memories of time spent together.

I do hope that we will be able to welcome you back again in the future for some more authentic Montana adventures.

This resortis truly a Gem! The service is amazing, the cabins are gorgeous, and the people are the nicest I have ever seen. This place is truly five star. Warm and cozy but definately five star. We went with our two boys for Christmas and it was truly a magical experience. It far exceeded or expectations and the website as beautiful as it is; still does it no justice! A must on the bucket list! We had a very magical Christmas!

Thanks so much for taking the time to write this review. I am so pleased that the resort lived up to your expectations and you had an enjoyable, snowy vacation in our winter wonderland. It was such a thrill for us to be able to share in your sons' joy at seeing their very first snow and to see the family having such a great time together.

I do hope we will see you back at the ranch again, perhaps in the summer?

Every year, my wife and I, along with our dog Libby make a trek over to Paws-Up for our special get-away treat. We usually sit by the fire and make our resolutions for the upcoming year. This year we went on a dog sledding trip and had a wonderful sleigh ride over hill and dale with our wonderful pup.

We always look forward to the wonderful and different foods prepared by the chef that truly has a gift and as always, the support staff is always there with a smile and "Over the Top" service.

We have been going to Paws-Up for over 6 years now and have never been disappointed.

Room Tip: Make sure you get a house with a fireplace in the winter.
