“Great hotel, great views”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 12, 2013 via mobile

We had a river and mountain view room and they are not kidding, it's a five star view. Comfortable bed, very clean, nice people, helpful. We stayed four nights and had elk and deer grazing outside our door every night. Breakfast is a buffet served in an adjacent restaurant with the usual cereal, bread, pastry selections, yoghurt, fresh fruit including berries. Hot dishes included biscuits and gravy, scrambled egg, bacon, hash brown casserole, dirty rice, French toast and ham puff. Buffet and service was great except Mother's Day morning when they could not cope, most buffet dishes empty and what they did have was lukewarm, canned fruit instead of fresh. Long waits for coffee, and no comment or apology from wait staff when we mentioned the eggs were cold. No elevators.

We stay here every time that we go to Yellowstone. They have dog friendly rooms, and the fact that you can park right outside the room door is a great convenience. The rooms are well appointed and comfortable. The complimentary breakfast buffet in the adjoining restaurant is a very nice added bonus.

Extremely clean, great and friendly service, free buffet breakfast, reasonable rates, and 24 hour front desk. One mile from Yellowstone North Entrance, close to Mammoth Hot Springs. Employees are very responsive to any needs. It isn't the Four Seasons; however, who needs the Four Seasons when staying in Yellowstone.

On day 25 of Nancy's Excellent Mid-West USA Ski Trip we have hung up the skiis and toured
through Grand Teton,Yellowstone Parks with a stop in Gardiner WITHOUT a reservation which is unheard of for us.

As previously stated from The Plains in Cheyenne TA review, I have learned that a hotel is more about the guests ... like in our #1 hotel the previous full week with two bathrooms, balcony hot tub, two TVs, sitting area and wonderfull king ... the kid up-stairs, the teenagers in the hall cause noise that militaryinsulation cannot muzzle.

Further on THIS review, I have never stayed in a Best Western.
This hotel was 10 more than the motel across the highway and 20 more than the one down
toward town BUT the staff was super friendly, the bed was a comfy king, the water was super hot, their was a fridge and micro wave, the TV had the most HD channels yet AND there was a view.
The walls were paper thin as I could hear everything above me and the robins outside in
the morning BUT everyone was quiet after 10 PM and why not a little bird music to get you
up in the morning. Free breakfasts at these places are horrible in my mind but I made
this one work (Secret ... make a breakfast sandwich after fruit and yogurt PLUS we travel
with my Platinum Gaggia ... Capps every morning).

I write this review late at night staying at the #1 hotel in Deadwood and I can hear constant traffic in the hall along with someone next door and/or upstairs ... #1 in town and it is ALL
about the guests AND with no free breakfast.

Our room was large and clean. We took one with no view. It looked out at the back of some old cabins. The pool area was well kept although the pool was too cold for me (although not for our teenage). There is a hot tub. There is a sauna in each bathroom by the pool. The disappointment of the stay was breakfast. Although the hotel advertises a full hot breakfast buffet, this is false. Breakfast is served next door in the restaurant. You are given a voucher worth 5.95 per guest. This will pay for a stack of pancakes, a waffle (4.95) or a plain omelet (5.95) but if you order anything to drink you will be paying out of pocket. Maybe at certain times of the year they serve a breakfast buffet, but not in April when we stayed.

Room Tip: The rooms with no view look out at a wall on the first floor and on the back of old cabins on the se...

Wonderful hotel, affordable but very large and well equipped suites.
Helpful and friendly staff, very clean and welcoming place.
Nice breakfast, great location, breath-taking view, you can't really ask for anymore than that after a great day at Yellowstone.

Room Tip: Go for rooms that face the river.

I have stayed in Gardiner several dozen times but usually at Absaroka Lodge. This was my second stay at the Best Western, staying in one of the Riverview rooms. Each time I came away with the same opinion.

The room was very clean and spacious. The decor was up to date, with an overall nice appearance. The bed was comfy with contemporary bedding. The room included a small refrigerator and a flat screen TV. Channel selection was limited, as seems to be the standard in Gardiner. The room had a beautiful view, but with no balcony it seemed a wasted opportunity. The check-in staff was friendly enough. I enjoyed having a laundry room available.

I give a HUGE thumbs down to the complementary breakfast, Yuck!... I usually don't expect much from these free meals, but this one is served at the Miner restaurant.... which serves a great dinner, so I expected better, my mistake!

If you choose to stay at the BW you will undoubtedly have a lovely stay. For me though it did NOT justify being double the price of the Absaroka Lodge. The good news is Gardiner has something for everyone. If you want to splurge for a short stay w/ modern style and amenities BW is the place for you. If you don't mind a room thats not as up-to-date, choose the Absaroka. You will be rewarded with the ability to extend your stay and you can sit on your own balcony and enjoy the river view. Either way you cant go wrong, just depends on your priorities. Which sounds best for you?
