Based on reviews, I wasn't expecting a very nice motel, but I'd say it was about average for Best Westerns in the size of the room, the furnishings and decor. The bed was very comfortable with what seemed like a new, expensive mattress.

The property consisted of three separate buildings. I'm not sure if the conditions vary from building to building. There was a nice little stream running past our building which emptied down a steep bank into the Yellowstone River next to a viewing platform which is a nice place to take in the river view.

Our room looked out over the Yellowstone River. It is a very loud river! I kept thinking that the wall mounted air conditioner was on! If you like sleeping with river noise, you'll love this place. We saw an antelope on the opposite bank, which is not developed across from the motel.

There were some clues that the building was older and had been remodeled, but they did a pretty decent job - nothing to complain about.

The desk staff was pleasant and helpful. The internet connection was about average for a motel - kinda slow but enough to check your email.

The ony downside was the very high room rate, but every motel around Yellowstone is very expensive during the tourist season. I understand that it is a short season so the rates have to be high. Grin and bear it if you don't want to camp out. LOL

Room Tip: Ask for a room overlooking the river if possible

Decent hotel, decent value and pet friendly. Got in at 9:30 pm; tasty dinner across the street. Tastiest calzone I have had in a long time; yummy soup, fast service and reasonably priced.

Shower head was not placed high enough for my husband and shower to have a comfortable shower. Would have liked a continental breakfast to have been included.

Our visit to Yellowstone National Park found us in Gardiner, MT for a night. Gardiner is a very, very small town so there's not much to choose from in terms of lodging. We chose a BW because it was brand we were familiar with but, if I'd had more dependable internet access, I'd have done a bit of research. This hotel/motel was over-priced considering it was off-season. The park doesn't even officially fully open until the end of May so there weren't many tourists around yet. Our room was quite small but clean and just adequate. At least we had a fridge and microwave and a hot shower. The beds and bedding were fairly comfortable but, again, pretty basic. We got the lowest priced room (no view) because we'd only planned to stay one night...this means the one window in our room overlooked someone's dumpy backyard so we had to keep our drapes drawn.

There was also no breakfast included in the price of the room which is something I find a bit inconvenient. When the breakfast buffet is included, it makes it so much easier to grab a bite in the morning, pack up and/or head out for the day rather than having to find a restaurant, be waited on and then have to wait for your breakfast to be brought to you etc. ... you get the picture...it's time consuming. The check-in clerk gave us a 10% discount coupon for the restaurant next door that didn't start serving breakfast until 7 a.m.--way too late for us. From the reviews I'd read about the restaurant, we would not have gone there even with a 50% coupon. So, overall, this was not a good deal at all. When travelling in the off-season, I expect some kind of a break on hotel prices. I can't even imagine what this BW charges for rooms in the peak season...do some research because there are a few other choices in Gardiner although not many.

Nice clean, BIG, rooms in family suite. Pool was nothing special but it was also clean. Only complaint is that there was no where to eat late at night.

My wife and I had reservations at this hotel for the middle of February. We ended up having to cancel our trip, and canceled the reservation via the BW web site fully one week before our check-in date (well within the "by 6PM the day of check in" specified in the original reservation. When we got our credit card bill for February, there was a one-night's charge on it from this hotel. Despite numerous attempts to get the hotel to credit our account back for the amount, we've been unsuccessful thus far. There's been no attempt to contact us to explain why the hotel feels they shouldn't owe us this money, so I can only assume it was an intentional attempt to defraud us. We're pursuing other options at this point (chargeback, legal action, etc.), but I just wanted to make sure you knew to keep an eye on the shady business practices here before you made a reservation. This kind of thing is uncalled for.

A great location, overlooking the Yellowstone River (the whitewater rafting trips go past it) and a short walk from the centre of Gardiner (there's a great "alternative/hippy-ish" TexMex restaurant and also a wonderful burger place, Helen's Burgers, on the main road into town), parking is plentiful, but boy does this place need a makeover, featuring decor and fittings that don't seem to have been changed since 1981.

We had the misfortune to get a room on the side not facing the river, our room overlooked a dark back yard of a shack with a dog in it that barked all day. Not only that, rooms on this side were incredibly dark and gloomy, with little or no natural light.

Service was OK, the reception is tiny and unlike many other Best Westerns, no breakfast is included. Don't go next doors with your coupons to the Rusty Nail for breakfast = overpriced, poor selection, cold food. The actual Rusty Nail bar is quite pleasant for an evening drink though.

The pool was fine, if small, and predictably crowded. Laundry facilities are poor, there seemed to be a never ending queue for the few machines still in working order.

Foodwise, the pizza/pasta restaurant across the road was OK, although the pizzas didn't resemble anything you would get in Italy or anywhere else in Europe for that matter. Then again, if you want to try a pizza with pesto or ranch sauce on your base instead of tomato, its for you :-) The whitewater rafting company next door were a good bunch too.

This place survives on its location and is way overpriced.

At this rate, this hotel is a very good deal if you want to stay close to Yellowstone NP, but expect nothing fancy. It is just ok. There is a small but clean pool. Enough parking space. Nice views of the surrounding mountains and river. Yellowstone NP is just a few minutes by car.
The rooms are nice and clean. Good beds. Bathroom ok.
The personnel was rather rude, especially at the front desk. Not really service-minded, but I guess they don't really care since they get loads of tourists anyway.
As I was traveling solo, dealing with jetlag and did not feel like going far, I did make use of the restaurant next door, both for a small dinner and breakfast buffet and I have nothing to complain about. The people were nice and the food good.
