When visiting Yellowstone Park and unable to find lodging in the park we found this adorable cabin outside the northern entrance to Yellowstone in Gardiner Montana. The friendly front desk staff at Mammoth Hot Springs and Lodge gave us a list of places to stay outside the park and this was on the list. We were lucky, and able to secure one of two cabins for the night as there was a cancellation. This cabin is on a gravel road 10 minutes from Gardiner in the mountains. A beautiful location on a farm, peaceful and quaint. Peggy Hoppe runs the cabins and her husband Bill hand built one of the cabins from logs taken out of the nearby forest. They have 45 acres of beautiful land bordering on the park. The cabin was very roomy with a comfortable queen bed and soft sheets. The cabin also had bunk beds to accommodate a family. There is a small fridge, coffee pot, microwave and satellite TV. Although the name of the cabins indicates a B&B it is not. But the grocery store is on the way up in the small town of Gardiner. If you are in the mood to eat breakfast on your way back to the park stop at the Town Cafe where the locals eat. If you need to eat dinner the Sawtooth Deli has great wood fired brick oven pizzas. The couple staying in the other cabin said they had a wonderful dinner at the Italian restaurant down the street from the Sawtooth Deli. Enjoy!
