Stayed for just 1 night on our 11 night road trip from Las Vegas to Denver. What a great choice. Was able to correspond with the owner Greg prior to booking which was appreciated, to ensure the available room suited our needs. Thorough check-in, and then after some very specific tips on the best off road places to see wildlife in Yellowstone, we left and indeed were successful in seeing everything we wanted to (except a bear!). Despite returning after 8pm, Greg had stayed to give us all a calf lassoing lesson. He was very patient and my 2 teenage daughters thought he was cool. I requested some ice, which was produced quickly, but I would suggest a small ice machine would be appreciated by guests who have forgotten to make a request before the reception closes for the evening about 9pm. Accommodation was exactly as described, with good controllable aircon and furnished to a high standard. Beds were comfortable and we slept well. Breakfast was healthly, organic and slightly quirky, geared towards health conscous "eco" types. This is a great place to stay for North Yellowstone, but the star of the show is the owner Greg, a great host, sincere and passionate about his hotel and the surrounding area.

Greg was very friendly and informative about Yellowstone National Park.
We arrived late (about 9 pm), however, Greg still spent the time suggesting an itinerary while in the park. The sights and excursions suggested were excellent saving my wife and I a lot of time including a location to see wolves and other wildlife.

The next morning we had an excellent homemade breakfast cooked by Sabrina.
The same morning Greg also had a powerful scope aimed at a bald eagle across the river as well as a herd of antelope.
Our room was was in excellent condition and the beds were very comfortable.
I would highly recommend staying at the Yellowstone Basin Inn.

We were hesitant to book a room here as it was a few miles outside the town of Gardiner. After looking at other inns in town, we turned around and were fortunate to get the last room available. Innkeepers Greg and Sabina made us feel so welcome, and the Inn was so lovely that we ended up being able to reserve another night. Greg was a wealth of information and provided very detailed information for many highlights in Yellowstone. Breakfast was quiche, cereals, fruits, juice and many homemade delights as well as coffee and tea. We would definitely stay here on our next trip to Yellowstone.

We stayed here during our honeymoon on our way from Yellowstone National Park to Glacier National Park and really enjoyed our stay! The staff was really friendly and welcoming and they were so wonderful to surprise us upon arrival with a bottle of champaign in our room to help us celebrate our honeymoon. Greg was so wonderful in giving us tips on where to eat and routes to take to our next destination for our honeymoon. Our room was lovely and the breakfast they served us was delicious and loved that everything was fresh and organic! Thanks again for helping make our honeymoon special!!

We managed to get the last room in the inn and were so pleased. The inn is just outside Gardiner and very convenient for Yellowstone Park. Our room was in the separate building that also contains the breakfast room. The room was large warm and comfortable. Beds were excellent. Plenty of hot water and there is a separate shower and bath. The view is fantastic from the breakfast room where Debbie produces the most amazing breakfast from organic produce. The choice for breakfast was different both days we stayed and there was plenty of choice. The owners pay a lot of attention to the needs of their guests and are happy to give help and guidance on looking for places to go and best routes. The telescope in the breakfast room is a nice touch to allow guest to view the that can be seen from the hotel. You can also have a go at practicing your lasso skills on the "calf bales" at the front of the Inn :)
We enjoyed our stay here and would certainly stay again.

Room Tip: The only drawback of the room near the breakfast room is that guests having an early breakfast can b...

We stayed here for 2 nights in early September at the end of our trip to Yellowstone. Our room was comfy and clean. It was such an improvement over the accommodations we had in the park. The breakfast served to us each morning was healthy and yummy. The owner, Greg, gave us great suggestions on places to visit and fun activities to try. He even taught my family how to lasso a calf while we were there. We were very happy with our stay. The Yellowstone Basin Inn is a wonder place to start or end your visit to Yellowstone.

I read all the reviews when looking for places to stay and saw that some people didn't like how theInn was "out of town" and you had to walk to a separate building for breakfast...Ridiculous! When my boyfriend and I pulled up we were both excited just by the looks of the place and it only got better. The Inn overlooks the river and a gorgeous mountain range uninteruppted by any other buildings and traffic was just about non-existent and upon arrival, the host, Greg was extremely welcoming. First surprise, a room upgrade...Then he drew us some maps of a great little hike in the area that we explored while it was snowing. We drove the couple miles into town which was nothing and had some dinner but were anxious to get back to the Inn and just enjoy the room. We couldn't have been happier we did NOT let the government shutdown stop us from visiting Gardiner. The Inn was quaint, the room exceeded any expectations, the hottub under the stars was a little piece of heaven, breakfast the next day was delicious and the views made this a spot I can not recommend high enough. The short drive to town is totally worth the "in the mountains" feel you get from this place -- and it was just what we wanted.

Room Tip: We stayed in the suite above the Inn sign (#5) with balcony....totally worth it, even if only stayin...
