“August 2-11 2013- Excellent place”
Reviewed August 14, 2013

My 11 yr old daughter and I stayed here for 9 days. This was an excellent experience for the both of us.We have done a fair amount of traveling, especially me and this is one of the best times I have had, same for my daughter. The rooms were very nice and the location was excellent. Not to close to town so it was not noisy and there was wildlife right there! The north end of the park is not nearly so crowded, so we were well positioned to be able to see and walk hike around the different areas of Yellowstone, Greg was an excellent Host. He was very knowledgeable about where to go to see what we wanted to see and the best times and directions. Pointed out many sites that I wouldn't have thought of. They served an excellent breakfast with a good variety each day, watched the bald Eagle across the river from the Inn. The rooms were well taken care of by the staff and the service was excellent. I would definitely and enthusiastically recommend this place to anyone who wants to really see Yellowstone. I have traveled a great deal in my business domestically and overseas and this is a great value for the money. I, as a rule do not write reviews of hotels or Inns, but I felt compelled to do so in this instance as I really believe this place is worth staying at.

Room Tip: They are all good rooms.

Thanks for the fantastic review!
We truly enjoyed your stay here, especially shooting the breeze on the front porch and at breakfast. I could tell your daughter had fun calf roping and making friends with the other children staying here.
Our goal is to offer a guest experience that is above and beyond most other hotels and inns here is Southwest Montana. This is not just a place to crash (you can do that in any place) we strive to make this your home away from home so you truly enjoy Yellowstone, from our great views to our great staff.

Thanks again,
Greg & Sabina

Our family of 2 adults and 2 teenagers really enjoyed our 3 day stay at Yellowstone Basin Inn. The accommodation was perfect for us and really comfortable and clean. The owners, Greg and Sabina were very helpful in pointing out places to see in the Park and also suggested a good place to stop and visit on our next port of call. The picnic lunch they provide was also a very nice touch. Would definitely stay again if in the USA.

Room Tip: We stayed in the Montana suite which was spacious.

My husband and I spent 3 nights at the Yellowstone Basin Inn in Gardiner, MT in early July 2013. We split our time with 3 days in Gardiner and 3 days in West Yellowstone and we wished we had stayed the entire time in Gardiner at the Yellowstone Basin Inn. (West Yellowstone was touristy and full of cheesy hotels). From the minute we got here, we knew this was a special place. Greg, the owner really thought of everything to make our stay the best it could possibly be. I am an executive in a somewhat similar service industry (health care) and Greg’s thoughtfulness, the special messages and tips, all show how much he cares about your stay and it makes all the difference in your trip. His messages are clear statements that he cares about your stay. Our room was immaculate, large and comfortable. If you needed anything, all you had to do was ask…if there was something you wanted to do, Greg would go out of his way to help make it happen for you. It is such a great pleasure to write this since Greg went above and beyond to help us make the most of our days, hit special spots in the park that we would have otherwise missed, and give us his highly experienced and wise advice. This clearly comes from not only his desire to make his guests’ trip to Yellowstone the best it could be but also because he really loves the park. It really shows as he sits down with you in the am to help plan your day. Greg was so thoughtful, that as we were leaving, he helped up plan the days for the rest of our trip over 3 more days in Yellowstone and 2 more days in Grand Teton, plus a day up in Bozeman, with awesome stops in Nevada City and Lewis and Clark Cave. He did not need to do this- we were leaving – but he was really so generous of his time and knowledge. He made our entire vacation special and we cannot possibly thank him enough! I read all the reviews and I can only underscore how great this place is and how unbelievable Greg is. We will come back – and we will only stay here.

Thanks for your terrific review!

Our objective is to make sure our guests have a great time, not just at the Yellowstone Basin Inn, and not just in Yellowstone, but on the entire vacation in and out of Montana. If we can make their vacation better by offering information about great places before they arrive or after they leave as well, then we have made a difference and that is what it all about. We also live vicariously through them and It is a please to talk about travel for us.

Thanks again,

Greg & Sabina

We visited Yellowstone Nat'l Park with our 16 year old grandson, and all of us enjoyed our stay at the Inn. Greg was a gracious host; helping us and others plan their days, not only in Yellowstone, but throughout the West. He has a wealth of knowledge, and is enthusiastic about sharing it. He loves the wildlife and had a scope on the porch at breakfast so we could see what was out there. We saw Pronghorns and Bald Eagles. Staying at the Inn was a very "green" experience. They took great care to recycle and respect the resources. The breakfasts made by Deborah were creative, delicious, organic and different every day. In addition, we were happy we had her prepare good lunches for the three of us, as we found ourselves in out of the way places when it was time to eat. They were packed in a cooler and were fresh and tasty. We stayed in the Yellowstone Suite, which was comfortable and immaculate. Our grandson enjoyed practicing calf roping out front, and was pleased to have his own room in the suite with a flat screen TV to watch at night. On top of that, they had WiFi. In addition, there is a large, clean hot tub that felt great at the end of the day. Gardiner had several good places to eat dinner, and some cute shops in which to browse. After Yellowstone, we spent a few fantastic days at our friends' large ranch in central Montana, but we won't forget the YBI, and the pleasurable time we had there. We highly recommend it.

We thoroughly enjoyed our three night stay in the Montana Suite with our three kids. The duplex suite with two full bathrooms very comfortably sleeps five if at least two of the kids are about 12 or younger. All the furnishings are new, very tasteful and of very high quality, the beds are great, and the sumptuous dining table was an extra treat. Gardiner is a great base for the northern half of Yellowstone, with excellent shops and services available in town, including rafting etc. Best of all, you won't find a friendlier, more helpful or knowledgeable host than Greg. He loves the area and its natural wonders and is more than happy to share his knowledge and give detailed guidance on where to go and what to do. He spots eagles and other wildlife from miles away and usually has a spotting scope trained on them in the breakfast room for you by the time you get there in the morning, and he loves teaching kids to rope calves on the front lawn while you linger on your coffee. Gem of a place that adds a memorable pleasure to an already unforgettable trip.

We had designated this hotel to be the place we would spend two days and spend more money on the room. We thought for $208. we would have a fabulous room- based on the Tripadvisor reviews.
The room was absolutely tiny and the bathroom couldn't have been smaller!! I've only seen a smaller shower/tub arrangement in a boat!! We first ascended to this room up a narrow flight of 14 steps. The door to our room said 'River View". It should have been named "River Peak" as that's all you could see of the river -- which was across a country highway about a quarter of a mile away. Besides that, the B&B is 5 miles past the town of Gardiner -- very remote.

The downstairs rooms looked charming and what we thought we were buying. Also, the breakfast and eating area are in a separate building and was charming. Fortunately, we spent the day in fabulous Yellowstone, so didn't have to "hang" at the hotel.

Room Tip: Don't reserve rooms 9 or 10.

Thank you for taking the time to review the Yellowstone Basin Inn and acknowledging that our rooms and our dining room are charming. The whole Inn has new furniture and we worked very hard to make this happen.

We are very sorry that you were unhappy about the size of the room (Riverwiew). If, when you first walked into the guest room and were unhappy for any reason, and you would have told us, we would have tried to find you another room or other accommodations to make you happy. Our first priority is our guest satisfaction.

When you made your reservation on Booking.com you booked a queen room, you had all the specific information about the room which states that the room size is 218 square feet. If you wanted a larger room you could have chosen an studio, one that is 300 square feet for just $25 more.

The Inn is located 5 miles North of Yellowstone National Park, and that is what makes this property great. It offers incredible views, quiet surroundings and a place to get away from it all. If you like the hustle and bustle of the city, then yes, the Yellowstone Basin Inn is not for you.

We make every effort to accommodate our guest needs and wants. We are sorry that you did not give us the opportunity to make your stay better.

We were supposed to stay one night in YBI however the place .. the view.. the breakfast .. and our great hosts were the reasons we stayed for another! Enjoying the view of the mountain from our rocking chairs was very relaxing after several days of hike in the park. Greg helped us plan our future trips to the park and informed us about where to eat in Gardiner. Tasty and organic products for the breakfast were wonderful after a couple of days in the Park's cafeterias where everything tastes the same .. Finally, WIFI !! I know that when on vacation it's always good to stay away from our computer and cell phone, nevertheless it felt right to check our mail and connect with the rest of our friends all around the world, sharing our great experiences in the Park ! (no signal in the park for our french cells)
Overall, we had an excellent time here in YBI and I would recommend this place to anyone who stays in the north, east or west of the park !
