We were supposed to stay one night in YBI however the place .. the view.. the breakfast .. and our great hosts were the reasons we stayed for another! Enjoying the view of the mountain from our rocking chairs was very relaxing after several days of hike in the park. Greg helped us plan our future trips to the park and informed us about where to eat in Gardiner. Tasty and organic products for the breakfast were wonderful after a couple of days in the Park's cafeterias where everything tastes the same .. Finally, WIFI !! I know that when on vacation it's always good to stay away from our computer and cell phone, nevertheless it felt right to check our mail and connect with the rest of our friends all around the world, sharing our great experiences in the Park ! (no signal in the park for our french cells)
Overall, we had an excellent time here in YBI and I would recommend this place to anyone who stays in the north, east or west of the park !

The YBI is definitely an excellent place to stay if you are looking for gorgeous views with plenty of peace and quiet. But if you want to be within walking distance of stores, restaurants etc. pick a place closer to Gardiner which is right outside the Yellowstone entrance.

We paid $230 for one night in YBI Room 2 aka La Duke. It has a fridge but no coffee maker. They gave us a coffee maker when we asked. So high marks for service. The bathroom is large with modern fixtures and grab bars everywhere.
The breakfast room is in a small separate building. Most of the breafast food is chick food i.e quiche, fruit compote, banana bread etc. No eggs, bacon, or even oatmeal. One of the men in our group said we would have to stop later for a real breakfast.

Thank you for your TripAdvisor review, we are glad that your enjoyed the gorgeous views with plenty of peace and quiet and the special coffee maker service. Our #1 priority is to make our guests welcomed and comfortable.

It is disappointing to read that you did not like our breakfast. We take great pride in using high quality products and serving creative, innovative, freshly made dishes.
It is unfortunate that you did not stay more nights as our dishes rotate. While we always serve egg based casserole, the variety changes from eggs and sausage, to vegetable quiche, to french toast casserole, to egg and cheese casserole. As well as, the side dishes change from fruit compote to sausages to rosemary roasted potatoes to baked apples.
It is also too bad that you did not ask for the oatmeal, as we have a basket with four different oatmeal flavors, and raisin bran cereal with fresh Montana milk.

We will, however, take your input into consideration.
Thank you, Sabina & Greg, the innkeepers.

We based three of our Yellowstone days at Yellowstone Basin, and we are certainly glad we did. First of all, there is a lot to see in north Yellowstone, so Gardiner makes a perfect base. The Yellowstone Basin Inn was easy to locate once you past the downtown area, as the inn is right off the main drag, a straight shot about a handful of miles outside of town. For our late night arrival, we found a nice note on the door with info on the room. When we woke up to the scenery out the windows and around all sides, WOW. Breathtaking. Big Sky, mountains, valley, farmland and history, all in plain view. We felt like we were part of a landscape painting. The breakfasts were healthy and unique, but some simpler (and not so healthy) foods would have been welcome as a change. The rooms were spacious, nice beds and the one we were in, even had a kitchenette. Bathrooms were clean and modern. But the best part of the stay was the owner, Greg (a big Trip Advisor reviewer himself). He gave us spot-on tips (except for the Petrified Tree thing, but once there, we saw a few black bears). His advice and recommendations extended from Gardiner, through Yellowstone, and even down into the Tetons. He really knows the areas and his enthusiasm (and humor) show. That must translate to the Bulgarian students he has working there, as everyone seemed to be laughing and enjoying their work. The calf-roping lessons were fun for the kids, but we even saw adults out there, trying to rope Greg's bales of hay. Because the nights get cold up there, even in the summer, the hot tub would have been a nice moment in our trip, but apparently, it was on the fritz (as every hot tub seemed to be on our trip). Still, we would return to the Yellowstone Basin in a heartbeat. It's just a great place to be. Thanks, Greg, you made our trip and made me look great for having planned it!

Our thanks to the owners and staff for an enjoyable stay. Scott is a gem and made us very welcome in our preparations and in our arrival. The suite was comfortable and roomy--and the modern conveniences of television, wi-fi and air conditioning were a treat to enjoy between stays in the park's lodgings. A delicious breakfast, gorgeous view and even calf-roping lessons!

My family and I stayed here for one night on our way to a backpacking trip in Yellowstone. But we needed a place where my mom, who would not be backpacking with us, would be comfortable on her own for 3 additional nights. After reading the reviews, we put our bet on this place as somewhere my mom would feel comfortable after day tours in the park. We were not disappointed. Greg and his staff were great - attentive and helpful! They even helped her find her car keys on a day she had misplaced them. The rooms are very comfortable, the breakfast great and convenient. This place has a nice porch in front of all the rooms for rocking on chairs while viewing great sunsets. It was a perfect spot! Thanks Greg!

While searching(and searching) for a place to rest after a day of adventure in Yellowstone National Park, we reserved a room here by phone without even seeing the place. Wow - we were so pleasantly surprised. Greg was very welcoming, provided us a clean, comfortable room, recommendations for dining, a wonderful, organic breakfast and assistance in helping us plan our day trip back into the Park. Greg also provided instruction to my two daughters on how to rope a bull (not a real bull but a hay bail bull) - they loved it. He also offered to share the use of his awesome telescope to take a closer look at the mountains from the front porch. We so enjoyed being out of town away from crowds and the amenities gave the comfort of home! Thanks, Greg!

Stayed 2 nights. Location was great for exploring Northern Yellowstone. Greg was very helpful in showing us various hiking trails and making suggestions. It is always enjoyable to deal with people who seem to really like what they do. I highly recommend the northern part of Yellowstone as it seemed less crowded
