“Hospitality at its Best”
Reviewed July 7, 2013

Working in the travel industry, it always seems that your standards for service and quality are set quite high - so when I find a place that exceeds my expectations, I have to share! We picked at the last minute after a storm had us rethinking our camping adventure in Yellowstone. It's situated about eight miles outside the park entrance, but worth the ten minute extra drive through Gardner. Greg, the owner greeted us and that's when the great hospitality experience began! With only 11 rooms - we weren't sure what we were getting, but we got: clean, kitchenette, quality bedding and towels, and bonus: an organic breakfast buffet in the morning. It was quality all the way! Everyone there cared about the guest experience - and were willing to share their favorite advice about visiting the park. We know our trip there was much more efficient and comprehensive because of their tips on what to do and where to park, etc. We definitely recommend that you take the option of the lunch sandwich to go - again, it was quality all the way. The next morning, Greg saw me taking pictures of the "straw longhorns" and he gladly came out to give us a quick roping lesson - and help us take some memorable pictures. I will recommend this place to anyone as an alternative to brand names - that aren't quite as personal!

To stay in the Yellowstone Basin Inn was a good decision: The room was nice and very clean. We found a familiar atmosphere instead a busy park hotel. Greg can give you much information and everybody is friendly and helpful there.
Maybe you can hear the shower of the other rooms, but we don’t care about that.
Gardiner is a good base to see the Yellowstone. There are some restaurants a gas station and it’s just a few minutes away from Mammoth Hot Springs.
If we come back to the Yellowstone, we will stay there again.

Wife and I booked the Yellowstone Basin Inn over the web. Check in was seamless. Scott at the desk was very nice and helpful. Gave us some great tips on hikes around the park.
Our room was in the top floor with great views of the mountains and the river. It was spacious and clean. The bathroom was modern and clean as well.
Morning breakfast was a treat - with different baked goodies every morning. Sabina, Greg and their Bulgarian crew were very nice and helpful.
A short ride (less than 5 minutes) to the north entrance of the park.
Highly recommended. They know what they are doing and truly care.

Last week my husband & I & two 16 year old grandsons stayed four nights in the Montana Suite at the Yellowstone Basin Inn. We were very happy with the Inn and would stay there again. The peace and quiet were great for relaxing and sleeping, especially after being with the Park's crowds all day. Breakfasts were outstanding, delicious and plentiful. Also, the Inn packed tasty, ample lunches for us and loaned us a cooler and ice pack. Again, it was great to be able to eat lunch where and when we wanted, without dealing with Park crowds. Greg's suggestions for our daily trip planning were excellent; an invaluable help when touring with our teens.

We had tried unsuccessfully to find lodging in the Park, and thus wound up doing more driving each day to get to the areas we wanted to see in the Park. But the help with daily planning and the peace and quiet of the Inn at evening more than made up for the driving.

Host Greg is very knowledgable about what to see in Yellowstone. If time is limited or you want to focus on a specific aspect of this magnificent National Park... he is your guide. We spent 2 1/2 days in Yellowstone and Greg helped us divvy up the park into doable sections highlighting points of interest along the way. The scenery is spectacular so you don't mind driving the extra 5 miles north of Gardiner to reach the Inn. Go to the Lighthouse restaurant for a great meal to end the day!

Room Tip: If lots of luggage consider consider first floor as there is no elevator. Although there is a coffee...

We stayed at Yellowstone Basin Inn for two days/nights but wished we had stayed much longer. It was an awesome experience. Very quiet, clean with great atmosphere and wonderful breakfast. Greg was very nice, made sure we had everything and taught us to calf rope!! We had a blast. Definitely recommend this Inn.

Room Tip: All rooms seemed nice. We stayed in the Paradise room.

Stayed here for the second time whilst visiting Yellowstone National Park. The Inn has been refurbished since our last visit a few years ago. The rooms are very comfortable and clean and the breakfast was very good. The Inn is a few miles to the north of Gardiner and the north entrance of Yellowstone NP but we travelled into the park early evening to see the wildlife and had no problems driving back in the dark. Would definately stay here again if in the area.
