“Quaint and Nice”
Reviewed October 20, 2013

Great location to walking into town. Room was very nice though a little dated. Nice balcony overlooking the river. There are steps involved getting to the rooms, not many but still can be a chore with luggage. Staff were very nice and helpful.

We had plans to stay here for 3 nights while visiting Yellowstone but only stayed 1 night. They were overbooked and gladly let us cancel the other two night. It is a long slow drive from many sights in Yellowstone. Gardiner, Mt. is an interesting small town. The view from the lodge is outstanding. We woke up with a large Elk walking in the grass just outside our room. The room was large with a kitchenette. TV is old very with few stations. Furnishing are quite old but adequate. Staff friendly and very helpful. We needed a laundry and they recommended one close by that was great. When visiting Yellowstone you really need to stay in the park to avoid long drives. We were not able to get accommodations in the park as we were too late making our plans.

We're glad you enjoyed your stay with us and got to see an elk on property. We just upgraded to all new flat screen TV's so the TV's are new but it's very expensive to get HD channels in Gardiner so we stick with the analog figuring most guests aren't sitting in their rooms watching TV a lot. So the picture isn't the same as most of us have in our homes now. As the price comes down we'll consider HD in the future. Thanks again for staying with us.

After a busy day in the park, we arrived at Gardiner and this was the first place that appeared comfortable. We confirmed that the rooms had wifi (needed for unforgiving business emails and keeping in touch with family) and agreed to the nightly rate. My card was charged fully before we received our key or saw the room.

The positive is that the location on the river is great; the balcony overlooks the Yellowstone river.

Sadly, the wifi didn't work on three of our devices. The woman behind the counter looked blankly when I asked if there was anything she could do. She reset the router, told me that it was fine on her computer, and suggested we went to a coffee shop down the road. When I pushed a little, she said she wasn't a technician and shrugged her shoulders. Sigh.

The rooms are old but clean. For the same nightly rate, there are some much nicer motels in town. We spent the following night at the Yellowstone Village Inn which had great internet, free breakfast and incredibly helpful staff. That makes all the difference.

Sorry for the inconveniece with the Wifi. Somtimes in our small town of Gardiner they don't have the most reliable internet and technicians aren't avail like they are in a big city. At least you enjoyed the beautiful views. Thanks for staying with us.

Room could have been cleaner. Also housecleaning could use a make-over. We arrived around 3 PM back in our room (after a 5 AM - 3 PM wildlife trips) and most of the time house cleaning was not done. You had the choice: or skip housecleaning or vacate the room (and miss out on needed siesta-time)

Overall: OK but could be better

Our goal is to have every room cleaned by 3pm at the latest which is our checkin time. That varies every single day depending on number of checkouts, stay overs, cleanliness of rooms etc. Some days our staff finishes at 1pm and some days closer to 3pm. Sorry if you were inconvenienced and we'll strive to do better.

My husband and I stayed at this hotel on our way into Yellowstone. It was a pretty basic room and was clean but old. There were dead bugs/gnats? laying all around our sink, however! The best thing about this hotel is it is located directly above a river and the rooms have a small balcony on them where you can sit and watch the river and look out over the town. The hotel is also located very close to town so you are within walking distance of everything.

My son and I stayed here 3 nights while exploring Yellowstone. Easy walking distance to restaurants, coffee, etc. Nice to be right above the Yellowstone River and sit on the deck with a beer after a day in the park.

We're glad you enjoyed your stay at our property. One of my favorite things to do as well is sit out there and drink a beer and watch the river go by. Looking forward to seeing you again.

We traveled 8 days and over 3500 miles from Oklahoma to Yellowstone. This lodge was my favorite place we stayed during our trip. the balcony of our room overlooked the boiling river. The room was clean with two beds. My only complaint was there was not a hair dryer in the room. Traveling on a motorcycle you take the bare minimum. I am sure if I had called the office they would have supplied one. During our stay there was an elk grazing just under our balcony.

Room Tip: Request a room with a balcony that overlooks the boiling river
