“just about "Perfect"”
Reviewed July 23, 2010

even though we had to ask for towels every night (even just one per person),
even though there was no remote for the tv (who watches tv on vacation?)
even though there was no internet in the room (they said they were fixing it)
and even though the male concierge said "perfect" 4x every 2 minutes (we were laughing about how many times he must have uttered that word during our 5 day stay)

even after all that, this is still quite a remarkable and terrific resort getaway.

The privacy, and "room with a view" (breathtaking and spectacular!),
the fact that you cannot hear any noise from neighbor rooms,
the proximity to everything from Yellowstone to whitewater rafting to Big Sky,
yet insulation from the teeming masses in normal hotel accommodations,
great restaurants inside and nearby,
a world renown author just 2 doors down who has returned for 10 years.

After having stayed in any number of world-class international hotels, Rainbow Ranch makes Montana an excellent choice for a getaway, either winter or summer.

My wife and I were married at Rainbow Ranch Lodge in June 2010, and the location and staff made our dream wedding a reality! Not sure where to start, but I'll try and be as detailed as possible.

The location is absolutely spectacular... the property sits alongside the Gallatin River and every room has a great view of the river. All of the rooms are amazing and are appointed with the most comfortable beds and amenities imaginable. A little bird told me they were voted one of the best hotels in the world in 2008, and I cannot dispute that notion. All guests are treated to a great breakfast every morning, which includes a hot entree that is made at the whim of the chef. Every morning the breakfast was great! If the weather is accommodating, you can sit outside on the deck and enjoy the scenery... on our wedding day we were able to see a black bear wandering the meadow across the river, it was great! The staff at the lodge are all very accommodating as well. From check in, to check out... everyone was there to make sure our guests were taken care of. We did have a few hiccups with reservations, but the general manager, Mollie, and her staff were always there to assist us with any problems. The staff was also available to help our guests book tours and recommend excursions... whitewater rafting, horseback riding, dining, etc. We were on the property for a week plus, we were able to get to know several of the housekeeping staff as well. All were very cordial, and very attentive... we were treated to fresh baked cookies delivered right to our patio several nights of the week. They also seemed to anticipate when we were gone, and our rooms always had relaxing music playing and fresh towels available on our return. The property also has a great jacuzzi overlooking the river... while it may have broke down during our stay, the staff worked harder than they should have to make sure it was up and running the next day! I can't say enough about the rooms and the service at the Rainbow Ranch... they are there to make sure every guest is taken care of!

I've mention the amenities and staff at the Rainbow Ranch, but as I mentioned previously we were had our wedding and reception at the ranch. The Rainbow Ranch was the perfect wedding venue for us. We enlisted a local rental company to provide a tent, and we held our wedding on the lawn adjacent to the Gallatin River. Located just a few steps away was the Riverside Gazebo (were the food is prepared/served) and the barn where the reception was held. The barn sits, literally, right next to the river and provides a great backdrop for an already beautiful reception space. The food prepared by the lodge was proclaimed by all the guests as the best food they had ever had at a wedding, and I would agree! The serving staff during the reception were great! We had one bartender, and 4 (maybe more) servers that attended to all of our guests. Everyone went above and beyond their assigned duties to make sure our night was great and guests were comfortable. One server (I cannot remember here name, maybe Moillie can help?), went FAR beyond her duties. Without anyone asking... she brought our dog food/water, assured that the brother of the groom made it back to his room/bed at the end of the night, and also provided my wife and I with new bedding for our room after she discovered the wedding party had "decorated" our room. This is just another example of how great the staff is at the lodge.

Last, but not least, I would like to say how amazing the event coordinator/general manager, Mollie Eckman is to work with. She came on staff during the time we were starting to plan our wedding. I believe Mollie has worked in the wedding industry in the Big Sky area previously, and brings all of that experience and knowledge to the Rainbow Ranch. She was on-site for our event, and was always there and attentive to any needs we may have had during the wedding/reception. She also made herself available to all of our family/guests for any special needs that we had during our wedding week, which was greatly appreciated.

All and all, the Rainbow Ranch Lodge was the perfect choice for our wedding and reception. All of our family and friends raved about the location and the beauty that surrounds the lodge. This review may have been a bit long-winded, but it is impossible to describe such a beautiful place, in a sentence or two.

My wife and I cannot wait to spend our first year anniversary at the ranch next June!

Thanks again!

My husband and I had our wedding at the Rainbow Ranch in June. We stayed there along with our extended families. The weeks leading up to the wedding were relaxed and the organization prior to and the actual event was obsolete. Mollie made it all possible along with the rest of the amazing staff. The venue was perfect for our small event, but it also has the capacity for a large event. It is also a fantastic place to stay if you merely traveling or sightseeing. The surroundings were the most beautiful I had ever seen and with Yellowstone Nation Park only about and hour away, it is perfect for a family to stay and sightsee as well. The food at the Ranch was most delicious and the wine list was quite extensive. There are also fantastic restaurants very closeby and with Bozeman and Gallatin only about a 30 minute drive, the possibilities are endless.
We rented both rooms, and a cabin and were so impressed. Everything about the Ranch was beautiful. We would recommend the lodge to anyone and could guarantee that there is something there for anyone. We are planning to go back in December to ski in Big Sky and we will most definately be staying at the Rainbow Ranch.

I booked a fraternity formal at Rainbow Ranch in Big Sky and could not have been happier with the facilities and staff. The location and grounds of the ranch is beautiful and well kept. Since I was with a group of 60+ we rented out most of the hotel rooms and a few cabins. The hotel rooms were cozy and warm with wood fire places. One of the cabins we rented (little brown bear cabin) was up on the mountain side overlooking the valley with a spectacular view and the other cabin had a great location by the river. Beyond the excellent grounds and faculties, the staff was the other great thing about Rainbow Ranch. I spent a lot of time planning my event with their hotel manager Mollie Eckman and I could not have asked for a nicer or more helpful person to work with. I highly recommend the Rainbow Ranch to anyone who is planning a vacation to Big Sky!

My husband and I just returned from a fantastic getaway in the Montana mountains near the Gallatin River. Rainbow Ranch and all of its wonderful employees provided us with the perfect relaxing getaway. The staff went out of their way to make our stay special from the time of booking until the time we left. Andrew helped us to arrange a great day of rafting and Mollie recommended an excellent tour guide to take us through the lesser traveled parts of Yellowstone. Chef Michael went above and beyond to provide us with gorgeous meals. Sommelier Tina and the bar staff Lat and Emily introduced us to interesting wines and cocktails. Rainbow Ranch is a special place with great accomodations and service. Can't wait to go back!

We stayed at Rainbow Ranch Lodge for our Honeymoon during "off season" time. We had an excellent experience. We are locals and wanted something special close to home and we got it! Dinner was fabulous, the room was cozy and romantic, the grounds were quiet and we loved watching the Mallard's and Trout rise in the pond outside our room. Thank you for a wonderful stay, we think this will be our Anniversary trip for many many years to come.
