“Pricey, but worth it”
Reviewed August 3, 2013

We had a celebration dinner here recently, and were pleasantly surprised that things at Rainbow Ranch are in such good shape. A couple of years ago, we told people to avoid this place as it was expensive and egregiously bad. It seems now that with a new Chef, who has been around the area and knows his stuff, and an attentive front of house staff, that the Rainbow Ranch is back on a good level.

As I say, it is not cheap and this can be off putting to some. However, it is one of the best, if not the best places to eat in the Big Sky area. Other restaurants here trade on the scarcity of facilities and a scarcity of imaginative cuisine. Sad for such a beautiful place.

“Excellent Dining in the Great American West”
Reviewed March 25, 2013

Our family of 5 dined here in March, while vacationing at Big Sky. We loved the atmosphere, typical western lodge with a contemporary feel & great artwork on the walls. The staff was highly professional. They made a great "Moscow Moose" cocktail, served in copper cups. Three of us had elk...very large chop, perfectly prepared.
For the most upscale, gourmet dinner near Big Sky, this is it. We will visit again on our next trip to Montana.

Last March 2012 had a fine dinner the Lodge. Another memorable treat: cocktail by the fire, soak up the ambiance, then ejoyed an outstanding dinner. We've been dining there for over 20 yrs, and some chefs don't quite cut it, but last winter the cuisine lived up to the subtle elegance of the lodge, as did the staff. The lodge was destroyed in a fire a couple yrs ago , but the restoration is actually an improvement on the original, if such a thing was possible.

“Stayed here 5 nights last week”
Reviewed February 10, 2013

Room was great. Good bed, bath, coffee, fresh cookies every day, clean, great views, fireplace and they carry in the wood for you. Allows pets. Wonderful staff, great breakfast even if it does get a little monotonous after five days. Ate dinner in their restaurant as I have many times before, and it was good as always. Liz, one of the chefs there, made the stay special as she and my wife were trading recipes. Good place!
