We LOVE Staceys hands down! My Dad has at least 3 hats & wants more (and he's a lifelong MT Black Angus beef cattle rancher). Say hello to Ray when you walk in & you will get a line of BS a mile long (& he'll never buy you a beer). If you are lucky, Erica is at the bar, she'll set you up with a wicked smile & a toss of her hair. She's a Gateway local who used to live at an old former pottery artists enclave that is now growing organics & beer hops! Check out the old rodeo pics-there's a story for every one. A little change in the jukebox sets the mood quite nicely. I even love the cowgirl fabric on the wall in the Gal's room (not sure what's on the wall for the Guys)? If you want the real deal you will not be disappointed. If you do not want the real deal go to ted's.

What a great place! Try the steak sandwich for a great value. Every bit of the steak is edible and delicious and for $12.95 you can't beat it. Comes w choice of potato and toast.

This is this kind of bar where you feel home as soon as you have entered the place. Good live music, great food (try the Rocky Mountains Oysters if you dare !...), excellent service and good beers, what else would you dream of at the end of your day ?

Went to Staceys the last day of skiing at Big Sky for the year it was a Sunday afternoon and we got there a bit early after having to slow down for a heard of bighorn sheep in the canyon. We were feeling a bit down since the ski season was officially over but that was soon to change.
We were greeted by a friendly waitress who told us to sit anywhere we like. Drinks and onion rings came quickly and were cooked to perfection. I ordered the steak and my son ordered the roast beef sandwhich. I got salad he saved room for desert. The food was amazing the steak cooked spot on perfect and was nice and tender. Contrary to what some people think you can get bad steak in montana. This was good meat cooked perfect. Service was what its supposed to be drinks then appetizer salad then entree and check back desert and check down. Someone has trained our waitress and she was cute too. We had the butterscotch pie which was definitely home made. The crust was amazing and the filing was cold and tasty with a nice layer of cream on top! We were very pleased a friend had told us to try Staceys and they were right on the money.
Tips ....come early it is small and not alot of tables. Save room for desert you will be pleased. Our waitress said they have standard pies and then ones that rotate thru she recommended the pie we had. Get a window seat you can see the traffic and people in the little section of town it has a nice feel. Dont forget to check out the elk european mount on the wall it is absolutely huge the kind of elk you dream of seeing when you are out hunting!
There is an attached bar so if you come early or stay after your meal you can get a drink in the bar.

You know the chain restaurant. Well, that's the rhinestone cowboy....and Stacey's compared to it, is like that grizzled old bowlegged cowhand who has lived the life and eaten the beans from the tin plate by the fire, and herded the cattle and mended the fence. You know as soon as you walk in that you could be the Queen of England, or the kid who works at the local gas station, it doesn't matter. Stacey's will treat you all the same. The food is wonderful, but almost secondary to the history that surrounds you ...pictures of old rodeo celebrities (animal and people), and the most unforgettable mounted elk head you will ever see. Stacy's is an authentic Montana experience. Treasure it.
