Not only was it clean and comfortable with well appointed rooms, but the super friendly staff made up for the bit higher prices. Pretty, historic town, great restaurants, a lounge near by with welcoming locals. Best of all for this snail mail writer, I was able to buy inexpensive postcards of Montana and was given free Sundowner post card WITH the postage to mail them! Post card are hard to come by these days. We would definitely stay there again. Oh, as others mention, the train whistle durning the night is startling, but we weren't annoyed and slept well.

Room Tip: Turn on street closest to Highway 94 for the Sundowner and gas stops.

Thank you for staying with us at the Sundowner Inn. It was a pleasure to have you here for the night, and we are glad we were able to get the post cards sent for you. I buy my own cards 5000 at a time, so we always have a good supply available for our guests to send or take with them. As a rule, I don't like to hire any staff that I don't think will be friendly and helpful to our guests, and have been fortunate to find good employees. We hope to see you again in your travels.

We went here in the off season and still paid $110 for a single bed room. This was including a $10 pet fee. Which happened to be the most expensive stay we had on our 2 week road trip. We did have a good breakfast for this price and lovely chat in the morning while having it. The rooms are nice, clean and everything you need is in there. The blasted hair dryer light is an absolute nightmare though. It flashes all night, and not in a rhythmic way, its completely random. The rail road isn't to far from the hotel, and those snail trains that are like a mile long go through on what seemed to be an hourly occurrence. Which is no problem, until they blast horn every single time for at least 5 mins while going through the town. A tad annoying on the hour, every hour. Apart from this, its a very nice stay. Would fancy seeing their in-season prices though.

Room Tip: Get a room on the back of the hotel, if they even have them. But it will be worth the ask for sure.

Dear "Ben",

Yes, trains are a problem, and one that I cannot control. I tried to abate the noise somewhat successfully by putting in new, better insulated windows. We have tried to create a "quiet zone" in Forsyth for several years, to no avail. You obviously do not have as ineffectrive an agency in England as the "Federal Railroad Agency" is in the United States. Incidentally, the train horns sound for a maximum 14 seconds.

I'm glad that everything was clean, and everything you needed was in the room. The hair dryers, since you did not notice, can be unplugged and will not bother you.

In our area, April is part of our busy season, since the power plants south of us start their overhaul then and we are quite busy. Not that it matters that much. We are a largely a "commercial" hotel, and our rates are fairly consistent year 'round because that what our business clientele prefers.

We have a 7% tax on rooms in Montana, so your room rate was more likely around $90.00, plus tax ($6.30), plus your pet fee (which is actually quite low on the average for pet charges). Regardless of the size of the town, we are a AAA rated 2 diamond establishment and our rates are fairly consistent with similar properties in other towns in our area.

Sincerely,
Joe Wilson

After a long drive, the quick check-in, clean room and very helpful and friendly staff made our rest a real treat. There are improvements since a previous visit, including new beds, so the motel is never resting on its laurels. The staff helped us find our way around town (good Chinese restaurant and a golf course) which saved us time and made our visit all the more enjoyable. The breakfast was simple, good, and pleasant.

Room Tip: All rooms are set back from the busy road, so it's a matter of preference for upstairs or ground...

Thank you for taking the time to review. I am a bit slow in responding, but remember your visit very well. I should get more photos of the attractions you mentioned, like the golf course. It is a very well kept par 71, 9 hole golf course, with alternate tee boxes. We also have excellent access to the Yellowstone River only seven blocks away. There is more than meets the eye initially to make your stay in Forsyth a great travel experience. We hope to see you in Forsyth the next time you come to Montana.

A little pricey for a single traveller ($87.74), but the clerk was very nice and the hotel looked clean and inviting. The room was comfortable and I made use of the laundry facilities and was very pleased overall. Restaurants close by and a nice quiet town. I was very glad I stayed here. The breakfast the next morning was adequate.

Thank you for your review of our property. There are several restaurants available in town, and most are open until 9pm. We must not have given you enough information when you checked in about the possibilities you have. Fitzgerald's Restaurant is within 300 feet of our property, and is a family restaurant (with a lounge/casino in the same building). I hope we can direct you better the next time you are in town. Thank you for reviewing for us.

Thanks, Georgie, for taking the time to post on Tripadvisor about your experience here. I am extraordinarily tardy in posting a response, and hope you will return regardless on my timing. We try to be traveler friendly for both business and pleasure travelers, and plan our amenities accordingly. We hope to see you back in the future.
