“Hope you don't mind a tilting room”

We stayed here for the one night we couldn't get a cabin at Traveler's Rest. It is a classic Motel. We ended up with two adjoining rooms, 1 & 2. We did have a full kitchen with dishes which would have been great if we stayed longer. The bedroom in room one must have been added at a later date, because it is definetley leaning. They have the bed shimmed up so you are level while sleeping, but it did feel a little like a fun house until you got used to it. The check in was a little of a pain since we parked in front of the motel, then read the sign saying we actually had to check in 2 blocks down at the general store. So I went down there and waited in line behind people buying provisions before I could check in. The clerk then crossed off the wrong room when I checked in. Overall not convenient. Not to mention I don't know what I would have done if I had arrived after the store closed since they didn't provide me with this information when I booked. The bathroom was very small and outdated. In room one your window that you need open in the summer is facing a train track that is only about 200 feet away. I couldn't recommend Whistling Swan.

On our road trip, we stopped in cute East Glacier and stayed at this motel. It was early season and the road north was still closed, but the very kind lady in the office set us up with a great, clean, warm room and gave us recommendations on dinner spots. It seemed like a nice small town. Had we known that the road was closed, we never would have found this!

We stayed here a couple of night while visiting the east side of Glacier NP. The motel is within 20 minutes from Two medicine, 30 from St. Mary and 1 hour from Many Glacier, so you can reach all main trailheads on an early hour.

Being a large family, we were able to rent three connecting room, so the kids could have a room for themselves without having to cross a shared corridor to reach our room - a major benefit. Having a kitchen allowed us to prepare some meals in the room, which was a refreshing alternative to diners food.

Also, we enjoyed the very welcoming hospitality by the home owners, who were also able to recommend specific trails fitting our attentions and wishes.

The one drawback of the rooms are the bathrooms - they do not have any outside windows or vents. You could complete the picture yourself... This is why I do not give this hotel a higher rating.

Still: Recommended!

I arrived in East Glacier July 24 and stayed 5 nights. I was traveling on Amtrak. And, like Amtrak, this charming little motel is right out of the 1950's. Nothing is fancy. Everything is clean. The towels are fluffy and the shower water is hot. Best of all the price is very modest. This is not a motel to spend your day at. It is a place to sleep. A fine place to sleep. The Two Medicine Grill serves a great breakfast, with good soup/sandwiches/burgers available for the rest of the day.

I should add that you can easily walk over to the Glacier Park Lodge and take "Red Bus" tours around Glacier NP if you arrive by train. You can also enjoy the Lodge lobby. Or you could rent a car from Mark. Mark runs a "if we don't have it - you don't need it" sort of a general store too.

We took the Amtrak train from Minneapolis to East Glacier Park to stay a night and then head further in the park. Mark, the owner, was going to pick us up at the station (which is nice because the walk is maybe two blocks, but across tracks and a road.) Our train ran six hours late and our 7ish pick up became after midnight. Mark was there, friendly and not seeming inconvenienced in the slightest. He allowed us to just get to bed, paying for the room at the store in the morning. The employees at the store were helpful and both the service and breakfast at the grill, next to the store and a short stroll from the swan, were good.

Stayed in room 1- nice. Looked maybe bigger than the others. Bedroom with decent bed, dresser, and tv. Kitchen with stove, dishes, fridge, table, and chairs. Perfectly usable bathroom with strong water pressure. Would have stayed here the whole time if doing a wider park exploration instead of focusing in the Many Glacier area.

Would stay again! Our room was a great value.

Room Tip: Room 1 rocked- good for multiple day stay with full kitchen.

A charming and rustic Motel. The staff were helpful and the room was comfortable, although it would have been good to have curtains as the sun (which tends to set pretty late this time of year) came through the blinds which was a little annoying. Internet problems were also a drawback.
Overall, however, we would have no hesitation in staying here again

This rustic motel has all the comforts you need on a road trip with kids, plus all the charm you expect from a trip to the mountains. The proprietors and their staff of youthful outdoorsmen are consistently cheery and helpful. The rooms are clean. The internet worked great from rooms 1 through 3. The boil order ended a year ago and had applied throughout the entire town until the whole municipal system was recently upgraded. This hotel is in a convenient location for walking around town in the evening and then getting to the eastern entrances of GNP the next day.
