“Our western vacation”
Reviewed October 1, 2012

This trip involved 8000 miles of driving and 21 nights of staying in motels throught northwest and western part of the United States. Some great nights, some ok and some not so good. The Travelers Rest was perfect our travels. We would strongly recommend this location for those traveling through this area.

Room Tip: Our room was very quiet and remote where an evening by the fireplace was perfect for a good nights s...

Stayed here for one night on our way into Glacier. I really liked the setup of the cabins...very comfortable and nicely decorated, comfortable bed, nice front porch, very clean.

It is near the highway and a railroad track, but that wasn't really an issue sound wise. I didn't have much interaction with the hosts with the exception of the check-in process.

The only downside, which might be a product of the time of year, was that my cabin had at least 8 or 9 flies in the throes of death that were incredibly loud. One dropped from the ceiling into the sink while I was brushing my teeth. Again, could be the time of year...but the friend I was traveling with did not have the same experience.

With a pretty full kitchen in these, it would be nice to have coffee filters in addition to or instead of the coffee packets offered.

We stayed three nights at Traveler's Rest in mid-September, 2012. Very modern accommodations; each cabin sits separately, so no noise issues. A gas fireplace heats the cabin using a thermostat control; full kitchen; very comfortable beds, modern bathroom. Hosts were very pleasant except when we got makeup on the white towels. But it washed out. We would love to come back. Great location to see the east side of Glacier National Park, or visit the Museum of the Plains Indians in Browning. Easy driving to Two Medicine Valley, Many Glacier Lodge, or Waterton Lakes National Park on the Canadian side. (remember to bring a passport if you're going into Canada).

Room Tip: Located between US 2 and the main train line, but the noise did not bother us at all. Cabins are ve...

It is a clean and very nice cabin. I stayed there two nights. Yes, the train came by regularly, but it did not bother me. The owners are very nice. There is a kitchen, with refrigerator and microwave, plenty of outlets and there is also, a gas fireplace. The bathroom is spacious and everything is clean.

Room Tip: There are not any really good restaurants close by, and you have a limited amount of average ones to...

Stayed here for one night on a trip through Glacier National Park. We had a long day travelling down from Calgary & were crossing the park the next day, the last day the Going To The Sun road was fully open.
We were expecting a cabin but had been given the loft instead. Unfortunately, we were so tired we didn't really appreciate it. Others have raved about it & I am sure the size & amenities would be better used by someone staying longer.
Pros:
+ large accommodation over 2 floors
+ full kitchen (I think)
+ pleasant host
+ secluded location with plenty of privacy
+ easy 10 minute walk to local shop & restaurant (Serrano's mexican restaurant outstanding - going to do a separate review)
Cons:
- some people might find the close proximity to the road and the railway a problem but it didn't bother us.

This was a wonderful surprise. A tiny little cabin with a full kitchen, living area with gas fireplace, comfy bed and nice bath. Very clean and the owners are very nice. The cabin is located in an Aspen grove and there is a Tepee set up in the front of the property. The cabin had a small deck and we sat out and watched a group of free ranging horses move down the road. Highly recommended and will definitely return the next time we are in East Glacier.

We stayed at the Travelers Rest Lodge for three nights at the end of August. We found the Lodge location perfect for us, as we visited the various parts of glacier as well as Waterton Lake in Alberta. Our cabin was lovely, quiet and clean. We used the fireplace a couple of the nights to ward off the chill in the evening air and found that we were cozy and warm. Both Bob and Diane are there to answer your questions and make suggestions on dining and places that are "must sees" while in the area. It was a great experience - thank you Bob and Diane!
