The staff was awesome in this lodge restaurant but the prices were high. The rooms have no refrigerators so most of supper was thrown out. The portions are large. Tasty but not worth the money for short ribs and steak and meat cheese sampler. Over 100.00 without desert of tip. For that kind of money, I had better. Breakfasts were pricey but had a large assortment on the buffet. For 300 plus room prices, breakfast should be free. Dining room was sparsely populated even though lodge was full. But for the full lodge experience we had to eat there at least one night.

The Great Northern is "grandiose" with views on the mountain...
But as the sunset is oriented directly on the windows on the west part people ask to low the curtains...
It is ununderstable...
If you did not want the sun go on the other part of the restaurant...
Or better, when arriving at the "check in" perhaps the waitress can ask :"the sunset is coming , if you are bothered we can give you a table at the opposite...".
In fact no view till the sun is gone...
Very good entrees, need improvement in apetizers(but the venaison/cheese to share is a good option), and average desserts : a cup of local berries and a local berries pie should be a good idea...

We stayed at the lodge and ate dinner here. It's probably the most expensive restaurant in town, but it's also likely the best. We enjoyed our meals and thought the food and service were very good.

Because access to many restaurants is limited at the Lodge, friends and I ate breakfast at the Great Northern Dining Room each day of our stay. The food is good. Service varied depending on the server. Some were great. The dining room offers a breakfast buffet, but I did not try it. After the first day, I discovered the lounge next to the dining room. It served the same menu as the dining room, yet it had some different offerings. I ate the fish and chips two days in a row. That dish was great. The service was very good as were the cocktails.

The restaurant in the lodge is quite convenient, and is certainly in lovely surroundings. Unfortunately, service was quite slow, drinks were mediocre, and the food was not par for what was charged. We had trout and prime rib, the meat was lukewarm. Unfortunately I’ve come to not expect too much from the National Park restaurants. Guess you’re not really there for the food.
