Cooke City is a one street town about 5 miles from the North east entrance to Yellowstone National Park therefore great for staying in and visiting the park. The Alpine Motel is one of three or four in the city. It consists of a main office and cabin like rooms of various sizes. Do not be deceived by first appearances as we were, our room was spacious and clean with excellent beds. The bathroom was light and airy and it met with all our requirements. The only downside was the lack of cupboard space in the room for hanging clothes. The motel does not offer any dining facilities but there are excellent restaurants within walking distance catering for breakfast, lunch & dinner. The North east entrance is the closest to the Lemar Valley in the park which is excellent for the wild life. Unfortunately, the best time to see these is either dawn or dusk so be prepared to be woken up at an early hour by other guests getting up early to visit the park.
This place is not for prima donnas but is excellent for those souls visiting Yellowstone but who do not want to stay in the park and comes fully recommended.More
