“Highlight of our family vacation trip!”
Reviewed August 5, 2013

Dan and Jan Sayer, owners, are wonderful, gifted in hospitality, great people of faith! They accommodated all of our in/out needs as our party (numbers and composition) changed from our reservation. We were treated so well and enjoyed our two nights so much that we suspected it would be downhill from there ... and it was. Our week-long trip to a MT family wedding, Yellowstone and Grand Teton parks, and Cody WY never rose back up to the high standard set by YRL! Thanks, Dan and Jan! We will be back!

Room Tip: Cabins on the river great for larger groups. Rooms in the main lodge building are all excellent, we...

We recently stayed at the Yellowstone River Lodge (YRL) for four nights and plan to return ASAP to stay a week or longer. Some of our family members rented the other two cabins, we had so much fun together! YRL has a few rooms at the B&B and three cabins along the river. We stayed in the largest cabin and were absolutely in love the moment we arrived! The view is spectacular, cabin is very clean, has everything you will need including some food, and has beautiful décor!! My husband, 9 month old son, and I had plenty of room. The largest cabin has two queen beds in the bedroom and plenty of room to put a pack n' play between them. There is a full bath and a half bath (attached to the bedroom). There's a kitchen, bar, dining table and chairs, dishes, small frig, stove, sink, and microwave. In the family room, there's a fold out sofa, tv, and lazy boy. Each cabin has at least one deck with a grill, table and chairs. Jan and Dan have thought of everything to make this a perfect stay!! They are wonderful people and very helpful. Cabins are a short walking distance to the river. While we were there, we saw several bald eagles, osprey, went canoeing, fly fishing, and swimming in the river. I highly recommend this peaceful and beautiful cabin for anyone visiting the Columbus or Billings area. We are frequent travelers and this is one of the best places we have stayed! We are looking forward to our next trip to YRL. Thanks to Dan and Jan for making this a special vacation for our families.

Room Tip: I'd highly recommend staying at a cabin. The B&B is also beautiful but the cabins are worth...

Quiet, comfortable, and great views from the cabins. We floated down from Columbus and took out on their private landing. Got some fish on the way down and did some swimming. Ended the day at this great spot. Dan and Jan have it figured out. Highly recommended.

what a beautiful place. Dan and Jan were phenomenal host this past May. My son and I spent 2 nights at the lodge before he started his internship in Montana. It was just what we needed, like being at home, with a great view. I would recommend staying here if you get the chance. Cabins are extremely comfortable right on the river!!

We spent the night of August 13, 2012 at the Yellowstone River Lodge. We should have stayed a week! Absolutely everything about our stay at the Yellowstone River Lodge was “five star”. Our hosts, Dan and Jan, were simply wonderful. They made us feel right at home with that outgoing, warm personality that seems so common in the Rocky Mountain States. They both went out of their way to make our visit as pleasant as possible. For example, Dan offered us beverages as soon as we arrived. And later he set out candles and other mosquito repellers so that we could enjoy the outside patio. When our wine ran out, he provided a complimentary bottle. Dan and Jan were both fun to visit with. If you are a fisherman, Dan can tell fishing stories with the best of them and the main house is replete with mounted fish, fish pictures, and fish/fishing books to back up his stories. The Yellowstone River Lodge has three self-contained cabins and two bed and breakfast rooms each with their own bathroom. We stayed in the two bed and breakfast rooms. Both were tastefully furnished with very comfortable beds. One of the rooms had its own kitchen and sitting room if you need a room for an extended stay. After arrival we walked down to the Yellowstone River and peeked into one of the cabins. It was finished in a rustic style but was cozy and well appointed. All three cabins look out onto the Yellowstone River. The gourmet breakfast was outstanding. Dan and Jan really outdid themselves. We had fresh fruit cocktail with cream cheese/powdered sugar topping, an absolutely outstanding pancake/egg concoction covered in fresh strawberries and blueberries slathered in sour cream and brown sugar, and thick sliced bacon produced locally. They served their own blend of fresh ground coffee which was excellent. The Yellowstone River Lodge is unquestionably the best bed and breakfast we have ever stayed in. If you are interested in Montana and seeing what Montana and Montanans are really like this place can’t be beat!

Room Tip: You can't go wrong.

My wife and I spent the night of August 9, 2012, at Yellowstone River Lodge in the bed and breakfast section (they have bed and breakfast rooms in their house and cabins by the river). The house is modern and very attractive and comfortable. The couple are delightful and the breakfast is wonderful. The location is several miles outside Columbus, MT, but easy to find with a right turn from highway 10. Their property is on the lovely Yellowstone River with the colorful bluffs gorgeous from the house and the river bank reached by a short road to the cabins. There is a nice moderately-priced restaurant in Columbus to which they referred us. This was one of the top 2 or 3 hotels on our three week trip. Thank you, Jan and Dan.

The Yellowstone River Lodge is obviously a labor of love for its proprietors. They built this lodge to be both their home and business. It serves both purposes wonderfully. They harvested native timber to build the support beams for the lodge and filled it with furnishings and accessories to make guests feel at home in the rural northwest.

My room was comfortable and spacious with an adjoining patio. The bath was luxurious and sparkling clean.

Breakfast was "world class". The pancake garnished with fresh fruit and crispy bacon was the perfect start for another day's travels.
