“Gourmet food in an Unexpected Place”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 23, 2013

We stopped to make dinner reservations during the day and it looked like an ordinary coffee house/cafe. When we showed up for dinner the place was totally transformed into a fine dining establishment. Every table was filled and for good reason. The food was excellent. I had curry shrimp and rice that was full of flavor. Unfortunately, the entree took nearly one hour to arrive. The manager said the small kitchen got "slammed." They could have communicated a little better about the inordinate delay, but given the quality of the restaurant, it is a quibble. I trust it was an anomaly. Bottom line--if you want to dine well in Butte, go here.

“Fantastic and unexpected”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 22, 2013

This is a excellent restaurant in historic uptown Butte, a neighborhood with a lot of character. Food, service, ambience and wine all great. The restaurant website does not show prices but they are very reasonable. The most expensive entree was $35 but most around $25, however this includes soup, salad and clams maison so is really rather a good deal.

“There's a reason it is rated #1”

This place was recommended by Mark, the owner and tour guide of Butte Urban Safari Tours, and we were tired and hungry on a Sunday afternoon. It is an unprepossessing looking place on the outside, but inside it an art gallery of funky musical themed art. We arrived early and got a window table and took advantage of the early bird special which was herb crusted sole, caesar salad, and a wonderful potato gratin served in a ramekin. The price was very reasonable and the food exquisite. The menu offered a good variety but the special which was available before 6:30pm was exactly what we would have ordered anyway. It was so good that we came back for lunch after our tour (see separate review) the next day. The lunch was buffet style, with each item priced separately, so you could choose exactly what you wanted and pay accordingly. Again we enjoyed a great salad and a choice of two soups. We chose not to have either of the two main entrees simply because we did not need anything more on a hot day. If you come for lunch be prompt because it is popular with the locals as well as tourists. An added bonus is that you can view what the specials are on line for any given day.

“Exquisite Oasis!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 19, 2013

My wife and I had a long drive getting here. Butte was not our original target, but we continued past Missoula because of the new fires and smoke cover over the city. And man did that turn out to be a blessing for us! We saw the ratings and short descriptions and opted to give this a go. We were on the opposite end of the spectrum from disappointed as this fulfilled all of our desires for fine dining. And you can't beat the prices. We've not found anyplace where you could indulge in an excellent 4-course (we made it 5 with dessert) meal for this price. Everything was well-appointed and service was impeccable.

My wife raved about the melt-in-your-mouth port prime rib and I could go on forever over the cochilles st. jaques. I was blessed by the decadence!

This would be worth a lengthy drive just to indulge!

“Don't be fooled by the name”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 15, 2013

This is no cafe, but an excellent restaurant that serves really good food, much of it locally sourced. Typically the mains come as 4 courses, so do not be tempted by an appetizer, main and dessert, as you will have trouble leaving. The beef wellington was absolutely superb, with a mushroom pate in place of the usual pate de fois gras. All the side dishes, salads, etc were excellent.
