We knew it might be a strange stay when, during the course of booking, Chris mentioned "that we always take our shoes off at the door". The house was lovely but the impression of being a child in a grandparents house made us uncomfortable, particularly the signs all over the bathroom warning us not to drop water on the floor (which made bathing and showering somewhat nerve-wracking). Curiously, none of the other reviews appear to mention the proximity to the railway line, which for trainspotters was wonderful, but made trying to sleep through the constant three-blast train horns impossible. Chris's appearance at breakfast was somewhat startling as he emerged in full chef regalia. The breakfast was nice but a bowl of fruit, some bacon and pancakes is hardly the banquet we were lead to expect.
