we stayed at lehrkind for 3 nights on a recent trip to yellowstone. Chris and John were great, very hospitable. their advice on places of interest, dining, even hiking (former rangers) was great. i would highly recommend lehrkind mansion. the area is still develolping but is safe and close to downtown (this is important if you won't a car during your visit, most similar accommodations will be a $20+ cab ride to the downtown area).

Had a wonderful three nights, in a beautiful room, with tasteful decor and furniture. delicious breakfast and good advice as to what to do in the area and good restaurants. The mansion is located at the end of a historic, but largely deserted block, away from the other historic houses in Bozeman. a small warning, the beds are very high, and not always easy to get into and the bathrooms have the original claw footed tubs. very lovely, but could be difficult to get in and out of. overall,Chris and Jon run a beautiful b and b, where you feel at home and very comfortable.

The Lehrkind Mansion B&B was a perfect spot to called home while we visited family in Bozeman Montana. Every night we could retreat to our sanctuary and steep in the complete peace. The gentle breezes fill the room and our sleep was wonderful. Every morning we were filled up with yummy breakfast and great conversation from the interesting guests. We would definitely return as many of our breakfast companions already have.

Chris did a great job making us feel welcome in his home and sanctuary.

While visiting friends in Bozeman, we decided to go for a B&B for the Sweet Pea Festival instead of a hotel. We were initially directed to the Voss Inn, but were glad that we ended up at the Lehrkind Mansion. Walked by the Voss Inn during the weekend, and to be honest it looked a little bit run-down (but didn't walk in, just to be clear).

Location is probably about 10 blocks from downtown; not a bad walk, but it's not a fall-out-your-door location. Given the fantastic breakfasts, it's probably a good thing.

Check-in was pretty easy; there are set hours, but if you're going to be outside those hours just give Chris a call and he's pretty easy to work with. It's about an hour and fifteen minutes from the north gate of Yellowstone, FYI. The tour upon arrival is fun; the place really has some great furniture, wood-work, etc... very cool old house.

The rooms are updated, and ours had a newly-done bathroom. You even get to figure out the old-style faucets for sink and shower (it takes a little doing, trust me, but it's all part of the fun). Beds were oh-so-comfortable... and this comes from an SPG Plat who's used to the heavenly beds. Comforters were legit, too... probably one of the better night's rest I've had in months.

Breakfast is family-style, where the conversation can be dominated by the loudest (and, charmingly, often the most-annoying) members of the table. This was true to a degree during our visit, but the vast majority of the folks coming through are interesting, and in aggregate the group-breakfast experience is just good old-fashioned fun. Some of the stories about who's coming from where and doing what can be fascinating.

Service was great. Chris and Dylan were accomodating, pleasant and easy to work with. They're good at what they do and very clearly enjoy it. I'd highly recommend staying at the Lehrkind Mansion, and will do so again on our next visit to Bozeman.

I stayed just one night at Lehrkind Mansion. The owner was a little late meeting me to let me in, which wasn't a huge deal, but I was tired since it was after 9 p.m. and I had been driving through Montana all day. Once I was settled, the room was quaint. It was very clean and homey. I stayed in a room that faced the alley next to the mansion. Since there is no air, I had to sleep with the windows open. It was a little noisy when cars drove over the gravel, but the fresh air was nice. The breakfast was good and the service was great. I would warn you to be prepared that the mansion is located next to a deserted brewery and made me a little weary about the area. However, it seemed safe but I expected the grounds and surrounding area to be...different. Overall, it was fine and I would recommend staying here, I just didn't love it enough to give it 5stars.

Room Tip: Don't stay in the room in the Garden House that faces the alley unless you are a sound sleeper.

We so enjoyed our stay at the Lehrkind Mansion. The minute we drove up in front of the house we were impressed. The house is beautiful inside and out. We loved the room upstairs with the big claw foot tub. We had a quiet stay, but also enjoyed our time visiting with other guests and Chris. We walked to town and strolled on the trails. We plan to go back and stay again whenever we travel to Bozeman.

I stayed at Lehrkind Mansion while making a 4,200 mile trip from Key West to Seattle. Chris, Jon and Dylan went out of their way to make me feel welcome and guide my exploration of town. The grounds are beautiful and filled with bird song in a quiet historic district just outside downtown. Rooms are named after renowned conservationists, a tribute to Bozeman's striking landscape and proximity to Yellowstone. Breakfast with other guests was an incredible opportunity to meet other travelers over a delicious meal. My stay at Lehrkind Mansion was my last bit of luxury before leaving for Cambodia. I can't wait to return.
