“Funky Atmosphere”
Reviewed September 3, 2012

They give you lots of food, the breakfasts are wonderful, everything is freshly made and just like mom used to make...assuming your mom was a good cook. Not your traditional restaurant atmosphere. They give you a 50¢ discount if you wear cateye frame glasses. Not a whole bunch of tables so go early for lunch. Starky's is right across the street and a nice place for lunch if the Cateye is full.

“Tasty breakfast on a nice patio”
Reviewed August 31, 2012

The outside patio is a great spot for breakfast on a summer morning. Breakfast was very tasty -scrambled eggs were perfectly cooked (not wet but not tough), nice thick cut bacon, and the potatoes (home fries style with onion) were well flavored. My first cup of coffee was good but the refill was watery.

“Great breakfast and part of Bozeman historical experience!”
Reviewed August 29, 2012

Our family used to go to the 'old' Cateye Cafe at the Stockyards, and even more now (about once a month or two) on weekend, since it is downtown and accessible.

You can watch the chef cook your breakfast or lunch, and he's been there a long time.

If you judge restaurants by bathrooms, there is where Cateye takes a hit, with one tiny bathroom in back, but not really important.
Part of the 'fun' and atmosphere is the 'cateye, glasses that original creater Grandma Annabel who left Custer, S.D. during depression to go west and make something. Each table has a drawer with memorabilia from decades ago that kids enjoy looking at.

Great variety of breakfast eggs (western, Greek, Cajun, fish, Mexican salsa, meat, vege etc.) and pancakes / waffles / French toast with many types.

Only real wait time is if you get there on a Sunday between 10AM - 1PM.

“Customer ISN'T always right :)”
Reviewed August 12, 2012

This place is a favorite of locals and somewhat myself. It has charm, a bit of attitude and decent, unique breakfast fare at decent prices.

The wait staff obviously drinks during shifts, judging by their particular aroma and, well, the fact that I watched them drink in gulps near the open kitchen!

I would avoid coming here to eat if you are in a hury, high-maintainence, or lingering around downtown in the morning. If you want a table for this Bozeman experience, wait your turn, get there early, STICK AROUND with your entire party (they will give up your reservation in a heartbeat if you're not waiting and paying attention to the host stand or if your party isn't all there yet) and read the rules on the back of the menu. There's plenty of them.

All in all I enjoy going here, but I wouldn't bring out-of-towner or big group of people with me. They might feel annoyed.

“CUTEST breakfast cafe EVER!”
Reviewed August 10, 2012

Darling! Cat-everything from the decor to the meal names to the waitresses name tags. Perfect place for a late (or early) breakfast.. try the strawberry mimosas, they're wonderful. Enjoy a lofted breakfast overlooking main while playing random games at the table.. it's a must!
