Nice first impression. Very clean and comfortable. Tea was on the table almost before we sat down. Really friendly service and fast! Food was fresh and more than enough for lunch. Soups had flavor and entrees were well prepared. Looking forward to returning for the buffet which looked awesome for freshness and quality. Very reasonably priced for lunch with a menus items between 9 and 12 dollars and a $9.50 buffet that includes soup and tea!

Thank Marshall P

Chinatown is one of only a few Chinese restaurants in Bozeman, and it's the only we went to during our two-week stay. Actually, we went three times - the first time was during our first day in town, as it was the first decent-looking restaurant we passed. The other two times we decided to go back because it was so good.

This is not a $5 take-out restaurant. The dishes run from around $9-12, and up to $15 for special dishes. However, the plates are very big. It's not the cheapest Chinese food you'll find, but it's one of the best values in Bozeman.

The food itself was always fresh and flavorful. The sauces were never bland or gloopy and the ingredients were cooked very well. Our favorite dishes were the shrimp and broccoli, the Singapore chow mei fun, and the Mongolian beef. Hunan beef was good too. Appetizers were good but a little pricey.

Service was very friendly and welcoming too. The atmosphere is nice and casual, looking actually rather like a diner with some Chinese decoration.

One note - there is also a buffet served here, though it's rather small and is not the main part of the restaurant. We never tried the buffet, as it was $14 a person and just didn't look great. It may have been good but seems expensive compared to the regular menu.

Overall, if you like Chinese food this place won't disappoint.

I have gone to Chinatown Restaurant with my family since it opened 15 years ago. Often we go weekly. Locals of all types frequent this restaurant. The owner Kevin makes an effort to greet the customers, especially the regulars, and is always friendly and enthusiastic.

The food is fresh and traditional, and not the typical bland 'American-Chinese' fare often found in cheaper Chinese restaurants. They serve Szechuan, Mandarin, Cantonese and other styles. The most popular item is their buffet, which is excellent, but limited in choices. They even are willing to mix up dishes not on the menu, if you ask - for example Eggplant medley. There is no alcohol, the decorum is simple and its in a strip mall, so if you want fancy ambiance, go elsewhere.

We had the buffet and it was pretty good. I would say that the food was above average for a Chinese buffet but the selection was a little low. The buttered mushrooms were excellent.

Catch the buffet here. Even the rice is perfect, but the mushrooms are unsurpassed!
