Didn't realize that once you drive 7 miles out of town, you have another 10 miles up the canyon to the road that goes another mile up to the falls parking area. Road turns to dirt at the resovoir, about 8 miles up the canyon, and when I did it in early December, the road was packed powder from the end of the pavement, but obviously plowed. 4-wheel drive a must from this point. I chickened out for the final mile up the access road which was not plowed, so I never made it to the falls. It was a beautiful drive anyway!

This and nearby Grotto Falls are easy ones to get to. The path is unmistakeably well marked, paved in fact, and just long enough to let you forget whatever was bugging you. Good views along the way. The path is a bit steeper than Grotto Falls path, but slightly shorter. Keep your eyes open for wild huckleberries growing along the path too!

My husband and I just hiked up their last weekend. It had just snowed so it was a cascading ice covered waterfall, so beautiful! Nice paved little trail leading up there a fairly easy climb even with kids. On the drive up you also pass Palisade Lake which was also breathtaking. A must do while visiting Bozeman.

Take a nice short hike to the falls. The path is paved and wheel chair friendly. A great view and well worth the hike.
