What a great mission- to rescue captive grizzlies who are in a bad situation. Maggie and Jake (who we saw) were so much fun to watch. They are so intelligent. The staff is very informative and helpful.

If you are not interested in, or concerned with animal conservation don't go. It is 7 bucks to see the bears, which is probably a few bucks less than you can get in to a zoo for. The primary mission here is to support the bears that have already been rescued, and provide education about them. Personally I would have paid triple (and did after buying a memento). We were there for about an hour observing the bears as they wandered through the habitat scourging for food and treats left by the staff. Casey (stepfather of the bears) was out chatting with the guests when I was there. It was great to be able to ask him questions about raising bears, their behavior, and what he is doing for conservation.

The bottom line here is that you can support bear conservation, learn about bears, and watch them close up doing interesting things such as climbing rocks, swimming, and scourging for food (they did all of these things in the short time I was there). For me this is well worth the pittance they charge for the privilege.

The people that run the Grizzly Encounter are very nice and informative. It costs $7 per person to see two bears and while you are pretty close to them that is all there is to it. The only reason I was not annoyed paying $14 to see 2 bears for 10min was because it went directly to the support and care of the bears and the people that run it are very nice and knowledgeable about the bears. If you like bears or want to support the care of them then I would recommend stopping by, if not I would skip it.
