There are so many thing inside this museum for young and old, especially dinosaur lovers. I took my 6 year old grandson and he loved it as did I. One of the things that I really enjoyed last summer while we were here was the little pioneer village off the side of the museum. There were people in the cabins and gardens telling about early Montana life.

We have been to this museum many times before to marvel at the dinosaurs and fossils. We love them. However, this trip's focus was the show,"Aurora" about the Aurora Borealis, shown in the recently reopened planetarium. My suggestion is that you sit in the back. We sat in the middle and though the seats cradled our heads and were comfortable, we still turned our heads to see what was happening on the domed screen behind us. It was a wonderful film about the Aurora Borealis with amazing displays caught on film. The coffee exhibit was very interesting (though the huge Russell Chatham that hangs in the hall with the coffee display is so incredible; it is as if you could walk into it, into a dream). There were four interactive displays for children; the rainforest adventure, the Montana history section, and in the Native American and planetarium areas. Say, "Hi" to Big Mike the T-Rex at the entrance!

The Museum of the Rockies, located in Bozeman, MT, is a very special place. It is home to dinosaur exhibits of Smithsonian quality, a planetarium, a spacious area for traveling exhibits, an auditorium for guest speakers and special functions, and a delightful gift shop. Visitors are met outside the door by a replica of a full size t-rex and once inside, the museum exhibits will delight young and old alike. After moving to Bozeman, my husband and I joined this museum so that we can return time and time again. We have never been disappointed with any of the special exhibits and the new planetarium captures the wonders of the sky. This museum is a definite must stop on your family's way to Yellowstone.

Nice varied exhibits, laser shows well done and planetarium very good, the flogging of dinosaur stuff is old and the museum should branch out a bit, but is largely tied to the university dinosaur group since Horner hoped that aspect. But, the other musuum exhibits are excellent.
