I never complain and have never written a review before, but the only thing grand about this motel is that it is a grand disaster. The room was nasty, we requested another and it was only dirty, much better. It was obvious the staff only cleaned at the rooms. There is deferred maintaince everywhere. It was rated as a 3 star and it was nowhere near that. I could go on about many other short comings, but there is no sense beating a dead horse. If you have a choice, stay somewhere else.

It is well-settled that Holiday Inn's parent, Intercontinental Hotels Group, has invested a significant sum of money to recreate Holiday Inn into a key competitor with other similar chains. Having stayed in 4 newly renovated Holiday Inns within the past 6 months, I can attest that the brand is beginning to come out of the "fog" it found itself in during the late 80's and 90's. The Grand Montana has begun its renovations, although I hope they are far from complete. My room had new, comfortable bedding with adequate bath fixtures and seating within the room. While stylish, the large tube television took away from the freshly-remodeled feel. One last concern about the room was the heating/airconditioning in the room. I am 100% positive that the thermostat was there as some form of art. No matter what you did with it, the one three settings it knew were hot, hot, and hot. Yes, it was Montana in February, but it is awfully uncomfortable to be sweating!!!

As I stated in the above paragraph, the rooms are very close to being completed in full renovation. The interior of the hotel, including the atrium has a LONG ways to go. While the lobby is a vast space, there is very little furniture strewn about this expanse. A little more could be done to make the lobby more appealing. Barring the lobby's appearance, I would still recommend this hotel if you are stopping by for a night in Billings, Montana.

The Billings Hotel and Convention Center hosted one of the largest conventions in Billings, providing lodging and food for a week-long convention with over 1600 rangeland management professionals. As part of the organizing committee planning this event for the past year, I observed the hotel staff to be outstanding professionals with accommodating and positive attitudes. The facilities were well maintained and clean and I thoroughly enjoyed my stay there.

We travelled to Billings on a family vacation to visit family. Hotel was three star at best, facilities average (the breakfast chef was outstanding) however on our first night with teenager and young son in another room from my husband and I and with assurances from hotel they were "just down the corridor" we settled in to get some rest etc. Next morning our teenage daughter asked us to remain calm while she related a story of someone entering their room (past midnight) with key, closing door and then reopening again asking why our 17 year old daughter was there! She at the time was really shook up (you can imagine) but her little brother 10 years old was really upset. When the reception staff were approached early next morning they appeared mortified and most apologetic. It transpires they"d sold the room twice and the 'visitors' after midnight were infact confused weary travellers but what if they hadn't been....what a sham of service for children from a top end hotel. You place your trust at a price with a 'decent' hotel and this happens.

Our business holds an annual meeting here every January at the Convention Center next door. I almost opted to stay someplace else, but January weather can make road travel hazardous and I can't miss the meetings. So, once again, I stayed here. It appears that they are trying to improve. Staff was friendlier and more knowledgable than in past years. Rooms were in working order. Same complaint as in the past: Service is very slow in the one on-site restaurant. Unless you opt for the buffet, expect to wait a long time for the mediocre food.

my family is traveling on military orders to pcs. We got a decent government rate for this. We didn't check in untill 10 at night. Upon check in we requested a crib which even when short staffed they produced. A maintinence man was more than happy to find the crib for us in a timly manner. I latter went back to find a fork to feed our son which they got from the kitchen for me. Clean comfortable rooms, especially for the price (around $80).

My husband and I stayed here while on a drive from Seattle to South Dakota. We received an airline employee discount, so for the price we payed, I really can't complain. I thought the beds were very comfortable, but the bathroom needed some serious deep cleaning. It looked as if the toilet hadn't been cleaned. If the housekeeping was better, this could be a really nice hotel room.
