We had an amazing visit to Lilac a number of months ago. My daughter was visiting recently, so we took her to what we expected to be a special meal. It was. Again.
Starting with an appetizer, "peas and carrots." A pea puree, marinated carrot curls. Odd, unexpected, possibly a bit "weird." Wonderful.
Main course varied. None of us tried the pigeon--as wonderful as I've heard it to be, just wasn't interested. One steak, one pasta, one other plate. Three smiling faces, full tummys and impressed folk. So, had to try the deserts again and we chose two to share.
It's seldom that we find an exceptional meal with an exceptional desert; Lilac again succeeds.
So, appetizer, three entrees, two deserts and a bottle of wine. $90. Can't beat the price, the food, the service.
If I had to find a complaint it would be that their fish special failed to arrive. But--how can one complain about food that's so fresh that a missed shipment means a missed special? It's special.
