“My favorite is the mushroom stuffing”
Reviewed March 4, 2014

We eat at this restaurant a couple times a year. I am always embarrassed for the wait staff who have to write their name with 2 crayons upside down. It reminds me of a restaurant catering to kids rather than adults. Other than that, the drinks are great, I have always liked my food - especially the mushroom stuffing and the fried green tomatoes - and the wait staff is very attentive. It can get very loud if crowded so we try to go early.

“All Meals Great This Time”
Reviewed March 2, 2014

We go to the Montana Rib and Chop house several times each year for the past 3 or 4 years. Today, we went for a Sunday lunch. Eight of us attended. All had well prepared meals. Two people ordered the fish and chips. Both people said they were tasted very good. The portions were large and there was more than enough to sate their appetite. Because it was near lunch time, they were still serving their Sunday breakfast specials. Therefore, two people ordered the breakfast prime rib with their Sunday special fried potato pieces. Both of those people also said their meals were very good. There were three people that ordered different varieties of large dinner salads, from the Bufflalo Chicken salad to the grilled chicken salad, to the Chop House Ceasar. The salads at the Rib & Chop House are always good and large. Finally, I had the appetizer Crunchy Shrimp because I did not want too much food. There were six shrimp of probably the 21/26 size, breaded in a spicy, and very crunchy (as stated on the menu) coating. The shrimp were very good with no off taste.

Their menu can be found online and varies from $8 - $10 appetizers up to $32 dollar dinners. Most prices are in the $15 - $20 range.

Generally, we find the food at the Montana Rib and Chop House to be very good quality although usually more salty than we would like. There have been a couple times when the fish and chips were deep fried in oil that was not hot enough therefore they were soggy, but not at this meal.

The only real complaint we have ever had about this restaurant is that is it very noisy. The noise is worst in the center dining area behind the open wall at the bar. The large, side dining room is less noisy, even though it seats more people. But, at least the pounding music beat is not as loud in the side dining room. Even there, there have been times when we could not carry on a conversation across the table. Finally, we started asking to be seated in their "executive" dining room which has about four tables and is separated from the rest of the restaurant by a double door and lintels. We like the executive dining room because it is much more quiet and we are able to converse among ourselves. Because our party is usually eight people we are always seated at the large table under the wall mounted television. If there are other diners in the executive dining area, they are usually looking at the TV above our heads. it makes us feel as though they are staring at us. We have learned to ignore that, but do wish the TV was not in that more intimate dining area.

I have given a four rating for this restaurant as an overall score of all our visits. There have been visits in which we would have rated it a 1 or 2 because of the noise and their rude reaction to our requests to move us to a different table (they would not move us even though there were open tables) - that was a couple years ago. Our visits since then have rated as 4 or 5. Today would have been a 5 because the food was good, it was quiet, and the server was very attentive, although unobtrusive. This is the first review I have given this restaurant.

“Nothing Special”
Reviewed March 1, 2014 via mobile

There was nothing special about our latest trip here. My wife's soup was cold and the ribs I ordered were average at best. Nothing about our meal made us want to return.

“Good Food and Good Beer - Busy!”
Reviewed February 17, 2014

This restaurant has very good food, good beer and a very attentive bar staff. If you are going for dinner and want a regular table, call ahead. We were there at about 830PM and the place was packed. The serving sizes are nice and the food was very good. Try the bar, if you are not up for the wait. We found the bar staff very attentive and patient...
