Review of Huntley Lodge
3.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed Mar 30, 2017
The walls are so so thin in this place. They even give you ear plugs because of the noise problem. I understand there is history with the hotel but it is time to update. The rooms are small and not well insulated so can get very chilly.
Date of stay: March 2017
Room Tip: top floors so less noise

This lodge represents a huge portion of lodging close to the slopes. They have a monopoly on space but my oh my that space is outdated.

The Shoshone is adjacent and has nicer rooms. The Summit is close by and is much nicer. When you book at the Huntley, understand you are getting the bottom of the barrel when it comes to lodging at Big Sky.

The pro's:
It is close to the slopes
The parking is free
Kids under 10 ski free

The con's:
The hallways smell like you are walking through a sewer of farts. The doors to the bathrooms are so thin and close to the hallways the smells are terrible.

The place is old. Look at the ceiling in our room in the attached picture.

It is so noisy here they actually provide ear plugs on your bed. Loud booms and flushing sounds pierce the night. I don't believe in haunted places but I imagine this is what people experience who hold that belief.

Chet's Bar and Grill has bad food and slow service. The best meal we had was an Italian sandwich from the grocery store at the mall.

The breakfast buffet...was so so. Props to the omelet guys though! Awesome omelet.

If you have a down day when you aren't skiing, there ain't much to do. The only real attraction is the pool and it is usually full of beer guzzling drunks.

If you want a big out west skiing/snowboarding adventure, head to Colorado. Go visit Keystone or some of those places. More reasonable accommodations and lift tickets and a better experience overall.

A little bit older but very rustic ans beautiful architecture. There are lifts right outside and access to outdoor heated pool and hot tub. The best part is tbw amazing free breakfast. It has a omlelete bar and almost anything else you can think you'd want for breakfast with a slope side view. Great service and great location.

My second stay and it was better than I remember. The best breakfast of any ski resort I've been to. Ski in ski out. Nice sized rooms with good closet and drawer space. Coffee maker. Humidifier. Staff was very helpful.

Yes it is an older lodge, yes it could use more sound-proofing, yes is could use some updates; but it has the look and feel of the great lodges in our National Parks and it is right in the heart of everything. They have a great breakfast buffet and a wonderful large fireplace area to gather in. Chet's bar has live entertainment daily. The staff are all young people that are so friendly and helpful. My towels were soft and the beds are comfortable. For the light sleeper, they leave ear plugs on the night stand. Also, they will provide you with a humidifier when the air gets dry in the winter. The Mountain Mall and several very nice restaurants are just a short walk outside. I love this place and look forward to coming home here every year.

Room tip: The upper flour would be the most quiet as no one is over-head, people walking in ski boots can be loud.

Desperately in need of updating. Convenient location. Very noisy. Rooms need an additional dresser (or 2) and better lighting. No good bar lounge area

Pros: Hot tub area, breakfast buffet, view from dining area, humidifiers in room
