I spent last week at the Huntley Lodge when I was on my first Big Sky ski trip. I really loved the place. My room was very comfortable, and certainly compatible with most of rooms that I get on my ski trips. The facilities in the Lodge - hot tub, pool, work out room, ski storage room, bar and restaurant - leave little to be desired. Their buffet breakfast is top notch. If you want it, it's there to eat, and it's excellent as well. Their service is superb as well. The staff couldn't be more helpful. They go out of their way to make sure that you have an enjoyable stay at their facility. If I ever return to Big Sky, I'd definitely stay at the Huntley Lodge.

When on a skiing vacation, I only ask that the room be 1) warm, 2) clean and 3) quiet. The first night we checked in, the heating didn't work, it was dirty and loud. The staff at the front desk were very helpful and moved us to another room. Unfortunately, only the first of our issues was resolved.

The lobby looks impressive and is very mountain lodge in style. However as soon as you leave the main area for the rooms you realize how old and tired this place is. The decor of the rooms is very basic and dated. The hallways look like they were last painted in the 1960s

The room was extremely noisy - one night we listened to the person next door throwing up all night. We could even hear them snoring.

The room was not clean - housekeeping did one of the poorest jobs in cleaning I have every experienced. We had to write them a note to tell them to clean the toilet. They did not clean any mugs/cups and left them where they were on the bedside table. They did not vacum the floor. They simply pulled the sheets back on the bed and wiped the sink clean. Even with such little work in each room, they did not always manage to complete cleaning the room by 4pm when we returned from skiing and sometimes we had to leave at 5pm to allow them in to clean.

Our toilet did not work properly for 4 days. They sent maintenance multiple times before it was fully resolved. WHile they did offer to move us again, we foolishley kept thinking the issue would be resolved and didn't want the hassle of moving again. Through the walls, we could hear our neighbours discussing that they had a similar problem. The hot tub has water but no bubbles, so its more of a cummunal bath tub.

The breakfast buffet was pretty decent, as was the bar and the staff friendly. However, get to breakfast at least 15 minutes earlier than you want as that's how long it will take for them to bring you a juice or water. The food for dinner was below average. A dish called "Airline Chicken" must be so named as it resembles airplane food.

I love the mountain of Big Sky but would never stay in this place again. I doubt that a rennovation could help due to the thinness of the walls and outdated structure. This place needs to be levelled and rebuilt from scratch.

Room Tip: There are no good rooms, however 3rd floor is likely to be quiter and warmer.

You enter the lodge through the lobby of the larger and more imposing Shoshone hotel with which Huntley shares the amenities. We stayed in a bedroom with 3 queen beds arranged in a loft configuration, with one of the beds on an upper level. The room was rather basic and uninspiring in terms of décor and atmosphere. The person who serviced the room after the first 2 nights did not really clean it. The next person did, to everybody’s relief. The beds and pillows were comfortable. The shower water temp was difficult to control and water pressure was slightly low. The outdoor hot tub was a nice amenity with a view of the lone peak. The highlight was the cafeteria, which is a huge hall with large windows also overlooking the Lone Peak and from which you can see the mountain changing color with the sunrise: a great way to start your day. There was a large selection of hot staple food, continental favorites and good, made to order omelets. The lodge is steps away from the lifts.

My husband and I are currently staying at the Huntley for a conference and to enjoy a little time on the slopes. The first several days were fine as we stayed on the third floor to get away from the noise. On our 6th night, there was a noise issue and we asked to be moved so we could get some sleep. We were moved to the Village Center in a studio style apartment where the bed folded into the wall to reserve space. I didn't sleep that night. Basically, the reviews you have read are accurate. The staff is very friendly, the breakfast is great, and you are close to the slopes. However, at the end of the day the hotel is synonymous to an old Holiday Inn with continual noise issues. If you are just here for the skiing and don't care about sleeping, you will like the Huntley. However, if you actually want to rest on your vacation and feel refreshed in the morning, stay somewhere else!! The Summit seems to be the best option for the location. Ok, travelers...you've been warned!

Room Tip: If you do stay here, opt for the third floor!!

We stayed for 11 nights at the huntley ... yes as before a review stated ther is not much storage space but we made do.. the rooms were comfortable with all usual facilatys ...we was there for the skiing !!!!!!!! How much time do you spend in your room..and there was plenty of lounge areas with open fire places to relax. The pool hot tub was a great place to go after a long day on the slopes but in the 11 days we were there the jets had never worked in the hot tub even though reported by many guests ..it was comming to the end of the season...The breakfast was fantastic and had a lot of choice and all the staff very friendly and willing to have a chat. we also ate in chets which was good ...would we stay at the huntley lodge again ...yes definatly

Although the rooms need some TLC, we had a great time we went there to ski not sit in our rooms. The location was great, breakfast was over the top and the restaurant food was delicious. The prices for food and drinks were very reasonable.
Erika was wonderful in taking care of my needs. We had 40 members of our ski club on this trip. It is a pet friendly lodge but I am very allergic to dogs and had just had an Asthma episode the weekend before. We had requested a room that had not had any pets, but there were some miscommunication and the lodge was full and they did not have a room for me. Erika went above and beyond to find me a room even offered to put my husband and I in another hotel. We were willing to wait for a room at the Huntley and after a few hours he found us a room on the third floor.
Will return , perhaps they can take care of the rooms

Room Tip: Aim for the 3rd floor

Loved it! The Huntley is what most of the reviews say it is. That being said I don't go to a ski resort for a hotel room I go for the skiing. The Huntley offers hotel rooms at a fairly reasonable rate and you can get a wonderful breakfast that everyone in the family can enjoy. The lifts are close by and the ski storage is on your way to the lifts. If you want to make a reservation for the fondue restaurant go at 4:45 and you'll get in.

Room Tip: As was stated in some of the reviews request a top floor room(this isn't a bad idea at any ski r...
