“great staff”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 7, 2012

I had a great time at Big Sky...it was facilatated by 2 young poeple who we had met at a local bar. They inveited my freind and I to conider some of the activities Big sky offered.
Both Andy and Polaris (a young lady) made the trip/vacation an above average experience.
Meet and talk to the kids running the area buisnesses..they know what they are doing and are some of the nicest staff we have met in a while..nice job kids !!!
I feel bad for them ..they work all day and NEVER get tipped..they were running the lift to the mountain helping people on and off and WHO carries cash to the mountain and WHO thinks to tip these kids workin alll day for seldom more than a thank you..
The resort should offer a way to tip them should a person be aware of it..I know>>>hard to do.
Great staff, supper amazing food !!!!!!!!!!! will go again this fall .Maybe this winter..
Nice rooms...Dog freindly..real people serving real people

Room Tip: every room had a great view

The lodge is beautiful and the staff is great, but the room was a disappointment. For the price we paid (got a deal with the brew fest) I expected nice furnishings and maybe even a fireplace and for sure air conditioning. Instead of a/c we had a fan that we placed in the open window, which worked ok since the nights are cool, but that meant we had to leave the curtain fully open so we were awake early....not necessarily what you want after a brew fest! The bed was comfortable, but the room had a Super 8 feel to it and the floor creaked....we thought the shower might even fall through the floor it was so creaky. Glad we got a room on the top floor!

Room Tip: Ask for a room on the top floor so you don't have to listen to those above you.

The folks at the Huntley Lodge were exceptional. The initial appearance of the lodge is great, but the rooms had paper-thin walls, creaky floors and almost non-existent amenities.
Activities in the immediate area were extremely limited with only a scattered few restaurants open. Even their shopping area closed at 6pm.
If they are trying to make this area a summer as well as winter retreat, they have a long way to go

Fantastic views. Came here in the summer and didn't want to leave. The kind of place that is so exquisite you can't believe you're there.

Stayed in the Huntley Lodge which was very nice. Everything of a high standard, very clean. There is no air conditioning in the Huntley Rooms but hey, go outside and enjoy the mountain air.

Gym, pool and hot tub all great - made even better by phenomenal views.

Sure, the walls and doors are a little thin so sound from halls and other rooms carries. And yes, the hotel is older and could use some updates. However, staff are friendly, beds are comfortable, and rooms are cleaned well. And it is a good deal if you need to stay n Big Sky--the location is nicely situated in the center of the little ski village.

This hotel is a real mixed bag - a pretty swell location in the high country of Montana - right next to the ski slopes. There are year-round out door pools and hot tubs and the beds were better than average. The rooms include refrigerators and coffee machines and the wifi worked great. The staff was just terrific...nice, enthusiastic, helpful.

There are two big problems with this hotel - you can hear everything in the rooms above you and next to you, and you can't get a reasonably-priced simple meal unless you pack it in yourself. I didn't expect to come to a ski resort and have so few choices for breakfast, lunch or dinner. Breakfast at the lodge was $15 for the buffet (the measly continental breakfast was $8)...and there were no other options that I could find that were reasonable to get to in the mornings or at lunchtime. A little coffee shop or cafe is sorely needed at Big Sky!

The Huntley lodge is in the best position for skiing at big sky. So close to the slopes and very comfortable. Enjoyed the roaring log fire in the lobby and the outdoor heated pool was magic in the snow. No lift lines on the slopes and plenty of space. We will be back!
