“Great Place”
Reviewed December 31, 2012

Our first time to Montana. This was a great place. Staff was friendly, room was very comfortable and clean. Excellent value. our first two nights were very enjoyable because we did not have anyone above us. the next two nights were a little noisey with heavy footed family above us, but not unbearable. Wireless Internet service was down the entire stay which was a little annoying. But overall, stay was nice. Will definately stay here again if we ever go back to Big Sky.

Room Tip: might consider top floor to cut down on foot traffic and shower noise from above.

This is a great hotel with very comfortable rooms. Service could not be better. Restaurant was very good but a bit pricey without many options in the middle of the road. A non-fine dining grill would be good. Also no espresso but free coffee and tee 24/7. Fantastic value, be sure to get your lift tickets as part of the hotel price, we saved $50 a day that way. Would definitely return,

Big room. Super service. Very comfortable. Restaurant is one of the best but pricey with few middle of the road options. Wifi is spotty. Otherwise great and a good deal especially during the high season. Would definitely stay here again.

My wife and I just returned from our 16th Christmas at Buck's and as always we had a great time. Of course the amazing skiing at nearby Big Sky Resort added to our enjoyment, but it's the warm and friendly folks at Buck's that have caused us to return there every time. Their sky/stay packages make Buck's a great value. The rooms are large and clean with wonderful cozy beds and thick comforters. The hotel staff are always friendly and accomodating and always hook us up with the best rate or package for our stay. They have two enormous outdoor hot tubs in which to soak sore muscles and talk skiing with other guests and make new friends. The food at the restaurant is amazing. Besides the delicious complimentary breakfast buffet each morning, our favorites are the Bison Meatloaf Grilled Cheese Sandwich, the Pheasant Quesidillas, and our new favorite, the Pork Chops with Fiery Crust. The sauce is amazing. We ate at the bar at Buck's all six nites of our stay. We always enjoy the company of our friends the bartenders, wait staff, sometimes the chefs, and even the owners along with the colorful locals in the bar and they serve the same wonderful menu items as the restaurant. Thanks again to everyone at Buck's for another great stay. We're already planning our next trip to Buck's.

My wife and I (along with our 5 sons) returned to Big Sky, Montana this year for our second annual ski trip. Last year we were introduced to Buck's T-4 by a Montana resident familiar with the area and the recommendation of Buck's lived up to its billing. So, in line with last year's experience, we elected to return to the lodge and I am pleased to report that this year's experience was consistent and completely satisfying.

As before, the rooms were clean, neat and affordable. The staff was exceptionally helpful and friendly. The food was divine and reasonably priced. And the hotel was proximate to our ski destination (Lone Peak) requiring only a 15 minute car ride up the mountain.

Here is the straight scoop on Buck's T-4.

It's not a 5 star/5 diamond resort with all the trappings and pampering you will find at a place like The Cloister on Sea Island, Georgia. (I know that because my wife and I live on St. Simons Island, Georgia and are members of the club). What Buck's is, is somewhat antiquated but, like many things, its charm is found in that very quality. If you want to go some place rustic on a reasonable budget to feel the rhythm of Montana and the old west, Buck's is my recommendation.

Buck's is a good staging area for whatever you plan TO DO in Montana. It is not a destination resort itself, but it has everything you want in between the times of your purpose in Montana. In fact, Buck's T-4 advertises that it is "authentically Montana" and that is really the best way to put it. Montana is a beautiful, unpretentious state which is demanding and genuine. If you are part of the white glove crowd or expect silver-spoon indulgence, Buck's (and the state of Montana for that matter) is probably not for you.

I mean in no way to run the lodge down. To the contrary, I wish to provide an honest recommendation so that like-minded folks can enjoy this little gem. As a point of reference, my wife and I are young professionals (doctor and lawyer, respectively) and we have means. Be that as it may, we hold value in high regard and appreciate practicality and authenticity over opulence. Buck's T-4 fits us/our family perfectly and we will, God-willing, continue to frequent the lodge annually to enjoy its character.

I hope this review helps you and Buck's T-4 find each other.

We stayed here on our vacation and had a great time. The food was amazing! We all had steaks, and they were perfect. I am eleven years old and I even ate all of my vegetables.
The people at Buck's T-4 were nice enough to share the recipe for the green beans and garlic mashed potatoes with my mom so she can make it for Christmas dinner. The breakfast was amazing, too. Hoping we can visit Montana and stay here again.

We had the privilege to stay one night in this cute little place, with fine dining available. The history of this place brings one back to the old west feel. Our dinner was amazing! We had a sampler plate...the best we've had in a long, long time! Breakfast was perfect for starting the day. Easy access to Big Sky, West Yellowstone and Bozeman.

Room Tip: Ask for a room in the main building and on the top floor.
