“Very disappointed with this property......”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 30, 2010

We stayed at this lodge during our vacation to Yellowstone and after reading many reviews here, we had high expectations of this property. The surrounding area is very beautiful. But, everything beautiful stopped at the front desk. This property could use some updating, the elevator, hallways, and the room all had this musky odors. Our room's decor was old with dirty carpets and thick layers of dust everywhere. The wall was paper thin and we could hear every noise coming from our neighbors and I mean everything and unfortunately we had our teenager with us.
The breakfast consisted of the basics like cereal, bagel, and toasts. They also had frozen cheese omelets & frozen sausage links you can microwave. We tried to microwave one of those omelets over 3 minutes and ended up with leathery outer layer and still icy cheese center. We lost our appetite after that.. If I ever go back to this area, I'll not stay here. You have many other lodging options in this area and you'll get what you pay for.

We stayed at this property for four nights in Aug 2010. The staff was very helpful; the room was large and clean; the bed was very comfortable. The free continental breakfast included cheese omelets and sausage in addition to hot and cold cereals, breads, muffins, bagels and waffles, yogurts, fruits, juices, milk, coffee and tea. The only negative was the drive down the mountain (about 7 miles) to get to Rt 191. The view of Lone Mountain was exquisite. There were several hiking trails nearby and at Oesal Falls, about 4 miles down the mountain.

We stayed here after touring round yellowstone. It was great to have a nice large room to spread out in, with great views of the mountains. We had a huge fridge, hob and microwave, as well as a comfy sofa, arm chairs and table and chairs for eating.
The pool was inside, but one of the better ones we found on our trip, no chemical smell and a good size.
The lounge was lovely, with a great mountain atmosphere. The breakfast was frozen, as described by another reviewer and rather strange, but the cereal and coffee were fine. We had no problem with noise or thin walls.
The helpful staff reccomended local restuarants that were open in the summer, and the hiking round Big Sky was beautiful. We stayed for 4 nights and had fun soaking up the montain scenery.

This is a very poorly managed property. When we arrived at 4:00 p.m., the man on the desk had to run around the fourth floor to find out which rooms were ready for occupancy.

Our room was big and it had very high ceilings. Unfortunately, the decor was dated and totally lacking in taste or imagination.

The thin, worn and dingy towels in the bathroom created a very unfavorable impression. They were the kind of towels a down-market place might put at the pool.

Most regrettable, however, was the low standard of the housekeeping. I found a set of a child's clothes in one of the drawers and, when I stretched out on my mat to exercise, I found a ski lift ticket dated 1/18/2010 under the bed.

The man at the desk suggested three places nearby where we might have dinner, but we found none of them pleasing. We drove down the mountain six miles where we had a good meal at Choppers. We would have eaten at the tiny Thai restaurant, but it was booked. On our way back up the hill we spotted and photographed a grizzly bear.

On the upside: This may be a good place for families with children. There is a nice indoor swimming pool, the rooms are large, and a good breakfast is served in the morning.

The location is beautiful.

The trip to the hotel is breathtaking. Set up in the mountains, the Lodge at Big Sky holds so much anticipation in that it should be as beautiful as the location. The lobby is very nice. Better then average. Leather couches and wonderful chairs. A huge fireplace. A great place to relax. Now, onto the rest of the hotel. The rooms. The rooms were big with microwaves and mini-fridges so that was a plus. The beds were not comfortable and the bedding was ratty and old. The walls were are paper thing and we could hear "everything" going on in the room next to us. The guest that stayed in the room above us sounded like they were doing gymnastics all through the night. The air conditioning was also very loud, but at least it help drown out some of the other noise. The pool was small and the hot tub was even smaller. And there were ants all over the place. Ick! They had three very small hot tubs outside, two of which were broken and the other full of guys partying hard. The breakfast in the morning was also below average, their hot breakfast was frozen food that you had to heat up in one of their 3 microwaves, 2 of which were broken. Bagels and cold cereal was about as good as it got.
When you pay to stay at this hotel, you are paying for the location and the view which are stellar, but nothing else about this hotel achieves that level of compliment.

We were whitewater rafting the Gallatin River and needed a place to stay in the Big Sky area. I chose the Lodge because of its top ranking on tripadvisor and our discounted room was only $84 plus tax.

The staff was friendly and very helpful at check-in. Our valley view room was huge and included a mini-kitchen. The beds were comfortable and the floor was quiet on this evening. The TV is a basic standard set. The upkeep appears pretty good as I'm sure these rooms take quite a beating during ski season.

Lots of amenities go with the hotel. Complimentary internet and continental breakfast are always a plus. The indoor pool looked nice to go along with 3 outdoor hot tubs. The fitness center was decent size although the equipment looked older.

Overall, his hotel fit our needs for this one night stay. I would like to return to Big Ski some day for some skiing. It looks like a fantastic ski resort.
