Description: BIG SKY'S ORIGINAL SLEIGH RIDE Dinner For over 35 years the Lone Mountain Ranch Sleigh Ride dinner has been a cherished tradition. Guests are transported on horse drawn sleighs under star light skies to the North Fork cabin. A very special prime rib dinner is served family-style in a room illuminated by oil lanterns and rounded out by the tunes of a cowboy musician. A festive atmosphere is fueled by the warmth of a 100 year old railroad cook stove and the close camaraderie of the dinner guests. Family Style Dinner Menu Home baked breads ~ winter root vegetable chowder ~ roasted prime rib & au jus ~ cauliflower florets topped with fresh herbs ~ baby red potatoes with garlic and smoked paprika ~ Chef’s warm chocolate cake, chocolate sauce and cream ~ Menu varies with seasonal produce and Chef's inspiration

The dining room at Lone Mountain Ranch is what you picture for the quintessential upscale guest ranch. Soaring beamed ceilings, yet warm. Servers in ranch attire. Very good food.
For this area, a don't miss.

Despite the fact that we were not staying at Lone Mountain Ranch (LMR), we visited two days in a row to enjoy cross country skiing and snow shoeing. Our instructor encouraged us to enjoy the lunch buffet after our lesson, enticing us with the promise of all we could eat for $13 a person. We bit, and we are glad we did. A wonderful array of soups, breads, salad bar, entrees and desserts were offered, and they were outstanding.

On Day 1, we enjoyed the best potato soup we have ever eaten. Amazingly creamy, tasty and accompanied by bowls full of shredded cheddar and perfectly crispy bacon pieces. Perfection on a cold, winter day. Salmon, Sea Bass, a variety of other salad greens and an extensive selection of cookies, cakes and other baked goods rounded out the buffet.

On Day 2, a New England Clam Chowder had replaced the potato soup, and it too was absolutely delicious and full of clams. Again, creamy perfection. Great fresh baked breads, Chicken Florentine and another incredible salad and dessert production made us glad we had returned.

Highest compliments also go to the staff in the dining room, especially the gentleman server (Rusty, I believe) who was incredibly helpful, friendly and attentive. The resort General Manager (Bob) was not above getting us requested beverages and was genuinely concerned with the comfort of all guests. It is easy to be comfortable in the welcoming atmosphere of the DIning Room. I look very forward to returning to LMR.

What a beautiful spot that is worth seeking out. Lone Mountain Ranch, is a cross country ski mecca and resort with cabins and a gorgeous log cabin style dining room. We had great service here, and my husband's meal was very good. Mine was fairly bland and tasteless but we will be back to see if they've improved later this winter.

Cross country skiing at Lone Mountain is always fantastic, and as a "local" my husband and I are there once or twice a week throughout the winter season. We used to enjoy their lunch buffet but the past two years had been such a disappointment we packed our own sandwich when we went to ski. We were just there on Christmas Day, our first visit of the 2013-2014 season, to check out how the new owners and new chef have changed things. WOW, this chef knows how to put good food on a buffet. Instead of slim pickings for a salad, one can truly make a great meal of their soup/salad/dessert buffet...and we did! As vegans, it's always hard to find things to eat on a buffet, but this day there was a vegan soup (one of two soups), tofu to add to your salad, a quinoa and black bean salad and lots of fresh raw veggies. And there were plenty of options for omnivores, including one hot dish and one warm dessert (all of which are made fresh daily in their kitchen). We spoke with the chef, Nick Steen, and he promises a continuation of good healthy food and reasonable prices. I definitely recommend a visit.

We decided to dine at the ranch after stopping to check it out for a cocktail. We initially were turned down when asking for a reservation earlier in the day . after stopping in just to check out the ranch the bartender said she could set us outside at 8 . We saw good things and thought great! Well we waited til 8:30 to be seated... The service was not good at all. I know it's a laid back atmosphere but I think she was pushin it when she booked us. My steak was below average I could have gotten better at a diner. The table next to us was loud and drunk to boot. Not impressed at all.

After reading your review, I'm not impressed with us either. When you are dining with us we need to manage the entire experience, from the food, atmosphere, service and to some extent the other guests. We failed in all aspects. If possible, I would like to treat you to a meal on me. We want to demonstrate that your experience was apparition and not the norm. Please give me a call to set this up.
