Owner description: Welcome to Big Sky Resort: home of the biggest skiing in America. Now, with the addition of the Moonlight Basin and Spanish Peaks terrain, Big Sky is even bigger! Towering at 11,166 feet and expanding over 5,750 skiable acres, Big Sky stands as a luxurious outpost on the edge Yellowstone's most wild country. Only 45 minutes from Yellowstone National Park and with over 400"of annual snowfall Big Sky offers down hill skiing, snowboarding, spa getaways, snowshoeing, cross country skiing, snowmobiling and more. In summer the adventure continues with wildlife viewing, zipline tours, whitewater rafting, biking, hiking, horseback riding, climbing or experience our mountain safari and tram ride to the top with the legendary Lone Peak Expedition. “So Many Lifts, So Little Time”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 30, 2012

The summit feels like the top of the world. Don't forget to bring water, because in the summer, there's nothing open at the top. Loved hiking, mountain biking, and mountain-top skeet shooting. Shops and restaurants at the base were decent.

“shoshone hotel condo”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 30, 2012

Fantastic vacation spot for families. The convenience of a condo with great amenities of a hotel. Relax in your own space. Walk downstairs to claim your ski's/snowboard, walk across town center and hop in line for your lift. Barely a lift line as one of many chairlifts swiftly carry you to wonderful skiing. Go home for lunch (because it's really easy) or eat on the mountain. Apres ski includes Outdoor swimming, drinks at a bar, pizza delivery, dinner at one of the hotel restaurants or stay in and cook in your own kitchen. We've visited Big Sky since our kids were babies and still love it. (They're teen and almost 20 now). Skiing is top rate. Hotel has gone down slightly due to lack of upgrades to some units. Employee attitudes went down over the years thus the four and not five star rating. Still one of the most convenient and enjoyable places to ski.

“Opening Day Bust.”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 23, 2012

Went up for Opening Day 2012 expecting opening day conditions, but didn't expect posted conditions to be embellished and ski patrol to get all the good runs. Overall, one chair and three runs open over a two day period. The only thing that made this better was the on-site restaurants and discounted lift tickets....

Thanks for sharing your review with us. Sorry to hear opening day wasn't what you expected. Early season conditions on Lone Peak can be variable. Some years we have opened wall to wall and others we just had one run. It's always weather dependent. Trust us. We want to get out there and ski the Peak just as much as you do. Ski Patrol works really hard to open new terrain as conditions allow. We'd suggest checking the snow phone, the conditions page on our website and the online weather stations for the most up to date conditions for opening day. Hope to see you in the lift line for the opening day celebration next season.

“Love this mountain...”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 4, 2012

Have only been here for two seasons but I have no complaints. The size of the place just blows your mind. I have gone days without seeing another person on the runs I am on. The staff are all friendly and helpful. The snow sports school is really good the instructors have a good time imparting their knowledge.

The village has lots of restaurants for all budgets and there are several shops for renting or buying new equipment.

“Big Sky - Great all around ski/snowboard resort for Spring Break”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 2, 2012

We visited for a spring break ski trip. The resort was much more than I expected. We've skied 16 or the Top 20 resorts in Ski Magazine's rankings and are skiers and boarders. My kids (16, 14, 12) all put this in their Top 3 resorts. Vail and Steamboat are their other 2 favorites. We preferred Big Sky over all the Utah resorts, which we skied at Christmas.
